Hotel Guest Reviews of the La Quinta Inn & Suites New Haven

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The location and the shuttle drivers were FANTASTIC
the front desk staff overall was rude, and unwilling to help. Some of the other guests made our stay a little uneasy as they looked like they were junkies looking for a fix at this hotel. The halls were HOT and it is in need of a renovation.

I would stay here again but only at a severe discount... I would never book this room at full price. The breakfast is decent, the shuttles are great the front desk is awful but the rooms are ok.

friendly staff, decent location, nice room, always an awesome FREE breakfast (that i rarely wake up in time for) and best of all, the restaurant next door makes breakfast all day and the prices are reasonable and food is good. i have no complaints

i didnt realize it was so close to the train, the cab drivers must've gotten me before because i usually pay $10 getting there, but getting back to the train this last time was barely a 4 minutes drive and $6 ride. I should pay closer attention that they're not looping me around blocks because CT cabs are always fare hungry. Must eat at the Greek restaurant next door! I order breakfast ALL day and each time better than the last. Or dave your money and get the free continental in the AM in the lobby which has a WIDE variety including the machine that makes waffles :P Staff are friendly and non-bothersome. I enjoy my vsits there, just wish it were closer to downtown since i dont drive, but i just realized this past visit, they DO have shuttle service so take advantage of it! ...read more

the towels were nice.
getting kind of old looking and beat up.

We had a better room the last time we stayed, this time there was no refridge or microwave. Room sort of beat up looking, beds were comfortable. We got this thru the no bid special, but would not have picked this hotel if given the chance. Did like we could pick the beds, I do like two beds instead of one.

The hotels engineer noticed we were heading to a room that had just been occupied. He kindly escorted us back to the front desk. He apologized to us and the woman working at the front desk told me "oh well, it happens" and offered no apology -
The front desk staff could use a spruce up in customer service training. They barely looked at me or said two words to me when I checked in because they were having social conversations amongst themselves. When I check out nobody asked us how our stay was

Breakfast was good and the room was comfortable.
The shuttle service was erratic...available one time I needed it and not another time.

The rooms were fine and the beds comfortable. Was quiet, which I was afraid it wouldn't being so close to the highway. Decent breakfast, nothing fancy but good to get you going.
It does need some work, looking a bit run down and looks like mold in the bathroom. Chanber maid didn't give us clean towels, took the ones we used but didn't replace them.

All in all better than expected, didn't like the area but close enough to our grand children. Wanted West Haven and they gave me New Haven.

Convenient Location
I waited a long time for check-in before I was noticed by the staff. There seemed to be a lot of commotion with another party and loitering in the lobby and outside the front entrance.

Free parking and breakfast were nice although the coffee was terrible. Generally there seemed to be an unsavory element loitering around which made me uncomfortable. I had to wait a long time to check in and wasn't given anything to make up for the wait. Generally an acceptable place to stay and price was good but not sure Id stay again.

Dirty shower, like that there was a refrigerator but it was too cold and froze my water, two remotes to operate the television

Location was reasonably close to where we wanted to be.
Responsiveness to problems was very poor (and we had a number of "nuisance" problems.

quite a number of little problems (most of which could be easily solved with any attention to detail) added up to a poor experience. The biggest issue was that the knob that turned the water from shower to tub was broken. Each time we reported it we got a different answer (e.g., we have to turn the water off to the entire hotel to fix this). finally on our third day of a four-day stay we were told that we would be moved to a different room. So we packed up our belongings and left the suitcases there as directed. When we came back they said we were still on the same room in that the problem had been fixed ¿ which it was. the other problems included: no remote for the TV, no room service at all one day why we're out, no "do not disturb" sign or card available (the maid kept waking us up early each morning), one washer and one dryer for the entire hotel (there was a squash tournament in town that weekend in this hotel, along with others, was totally booked with squash players who mostly needed to wash their gear each day. AND, the light in the laundry room was totally out for our entire stay (the desk Telling us, "it has been reported" ¿ how much talent does it take to replace a lightbulb or fix the wiring??) Water to the tub also leaked continuously (not sure if that got fixed or we just crammed the handle so hard one direction it finally stopped). About half the time we went to the front desk, no one was there. (Eric, the clerk we met our first night was a jewel however.) The TV channels would not show what was on (and no menu). Note: the next night we stayed in another La Quinta Hotel in White Plains New York and everything there was just right. ...read more
