Landmark Grand Hotel

I was traveling through Dubai on my way back to Afghanistan. I grabbed a hotel off Priceline, and boy, was I impressed. The price was great, but everything else about this stay was great. First, the hotel is located about 10 minutes from the airport. One of the local "cabs" tried to WAAAYYY overcharge me! Do not pay more than 50 AED for a ride! The hotel will charge you 50 AED for their shuttle back to the airport; a cab is about 40 AED. When I arrived, I asked about the cab cost. The clerk was upset that I almost was ripped off, so he upgraded me to a suite, no extra charge! The room was fantastic! Free Wi-Fi worked great (Skype is blocked FYI). I was on the first floor, and it was pretty quiet. Other reviews suggest to stay on the north side of the hotel (I was on the south side). But again, I had NO complaints! Room service: this was one of the better meals I ate on my trip! I had stuffed chicken, side of steamed veggies, and a desert. It was great! Very tasty and filling! I would highly consider coming back to this hotel if my travels bring me through Dubai again. ...read more
