Hotel Guest Reviews of the The L.A. Hotel Downtown

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

All the rooms were newly renovated. Floor to ceiling windows in the rooms.
Far away from convention center for a downtown location. The television in the room had very poor picture quality. Noisy on the side next to major highway.

All the rooms were newly renovated because this hotel was turning into a Hyatt Regency. Floor to ceiling windows in the rooms was awesome. It was kinda far away from the convention center for a downtown location, but luckily, the conference I attended provided a shuttle from the Westin, which is right across the street. The television in the room had very poor picture quality, and the room I stayed in was noisy because of the highway right next to the hotel. Not much to see or do around the hotel, but overall it was a nice stay for a business trip--mainly because of the newly renovated rooms. ...read more

The restaurant service was impeccable. Sunday evening the restaurant was closed and the bar serves to tables located in the lobby. Very relaxing. Everything about the breakfast service emphasized removing any wait times. Great food.
Hotel is located near the theater district and business district, NOT near any tourist attractions. Very few basic restaurants or retail business nearby in the evenings.

This may not be good for a family trip. Parking is valet only and over $30 daily. The restaurant services and food are great, but would not be good for a tight budget. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Great place for couples or singles. Ambiance and architecture are interesting.

This is not a 4 star-hotel. More like 3 or 3.5 Hotel needs a lift, staff are ok. Amenities at the hotel are old

Should be reStarred

Outstanding room. No bathtub, but very spacious (and for me, preferred) shower
Loved everything.

Soon to emerge as the Hyatt-Regency.

Rooms were clean,
The remodeling didn't bother us at all... Parking $35 night. No valet due to a huge wedding. Elevator buttons don't light up, they work but don't light up.

Street park on the street. Across the street is free except for 7am- 5pm in days schools ate open. Meters $5/hr. there's a lot across the street that is 36/ day max but $7 for over night or $8 during the day but you have to leave by a certain time for those rates. Bus and subway aren't far away.... That part of Downtown is a ghost town on weekends.

It had a great location, helpful staff and really nice rooms!
That after they finish renovating it, I might not be able to afford to stay there again! One minor gripe, common to many hotels, the HD flat screen in the room was showing awful blurry standard definition.

The LA Hotel was going through a $20 million renovation at the time of my stay. The rooms were done and were amazing! The lobby was in need of upgrading and I'm sure will end up magnificent!

Great staff experience, clean rooms
Was a little bit hard to find. Signage hard to read at night.

Had a good time here, staff very helpful, would visit again.

location, newly refurbished,
The parking fee and wifi charge was almost half the daily room fee I got. I think part of the refurbishment was the addition of a stand alone shower in room 731. They need to have a fat person enter the shower, close the door, and then try to get out.

There's a $35 dollar a day parking fee and a $10 wifi charge. I bid on this room and it ending up costing almost 50% more than my "winning" bid. I don't blame the hotel, I blame Priceline. I don't know how they can do it simply but the hidden up charges make me very leery of Mr. Shatner's glib assurances of great deals.
