Hotel Guest Reviews of the Middlebury Inn
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.April 17, 2013

Unfortunately, there is a very loud church right outside, whose bells chime every hour on the hour, day and night!!!!!!

The room was spacious but the bathroom was outdated and dingy and the room smelled musty. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been updated in over 20 years. Luckily we got a discounted rate on the room but even with a 25% discount I thought the room was overpriced for what it was. Although the name of the lodging is the Middlebury Inn the back annex where the room was located had a motel like feeling with separate outdoor entrances to each room. Nothing "Inn" like about it besides the decor in the main building. ...

Our check in was not smooth. Room lighting was dim and room faced brick wall! Breakfast service was deplorable[eggs cold and dry, etc;service inattentive]. Over all physical charm of this historic Inn was impressive and location near Middlebury College was good. The Hotel has the potential of 4 stars, but for now, it is an over rated 2 stars.

We were very disappointed in the Middlebury Inn. As a historic hotel, we expected something special and did not get it even though we paid a premium price. Our room in the annex (a separate building in a motel style) was not well maintained. The AC was not functioning and our friends in the room next to us had the same problem. The room and everything in it felt clammy and wet, even the floor and our clothes. It made for an uncomfortable stay. There is no in-room safe and we found the 2 windows unlocked which was not a comfortable feeling. The breakfast buffet was a disappointment as the eggs were very cold. The afternoon tea was a nice offering. We do not recommend this property and will not stay there again. ...

This is a moderately-sized hotel that feels more like a smaller "country" inn with a friendly staff, comfortably-worn, period furnishings, a nice public sitting area in which to view the passers-by, chat with friends and fellow travelers. Our first floor room that faced the round-about could have benefited from thicker-glass windows as the noise of fairly frequent semi-trailers and cars comes through fairly easily. On the other hand, the large-pane windows both in the lobby area and rooms made for an opportunity to enjoy seeing the middle of town. It is conveniently located to a large supermarket, as well as smaller shops with home-baked goods and, lastly, to the center of town for getting to know Middlebury. Middlebury College is a 10 minute walk away and Route 7, the artery road through western Vermont runs right by the hotel (as in, that aforementioned roundabout). ...
