Hotel Guest Reviews of the Monterey Surf Inn
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.May 12, 2012

This room was clean, upgraded. The location was close to the majority of main attractions in Monterey. For the price it was a good match. I thought 3 star rating was a little high; no major luxury amenities but nice, clean and good value.

The hotel was great. One level so that you didn't hear anyone overhead. You park in front of your room, so you don't have people walking by your door.

Very nice room freshly remodeled with new tiles and fixtures in bathroom. Parking was at a minimum, but we did manage to find a space. No coffee maker in room and continental breakfast was minimal, but a very nice room for the price in this area.

This is obviously an older motel and updates weren't of a quality nature. Had problems with tub/shower (handle fell off and shower wetted one when turning on the water). Spot lights from ceiling for reading in bed weren't overly effective. Refrigerator so noisy we shut it off. Bed was quite comfortable, though. Overall, I'll try somewhere else next time.

Great Location - across the street from an upscale shopping center, 5 minutes to Monterey Aquarium / Fisherman's Wharf. Remodeled with flat screen TVs, Granite. Rooms are smaller, but considering the price and cleanliness, this place is an excellent value.

Very nice and clean hotel. The price is not high.

The hotel was worth the price, and it was pretty full every night. The hotel is only a couple blocks from a large shopping mall - very convenient with a lot of great stores. Additionally, the hotel was only about 12 blocks to the ocean and the wharf. There were lots of places to shop and eat within walking distance - both directions. The parking was a little tight in the hotel lot for the most part, but there were a number of spaces with ample room for the discerning auto owner. We purchased aquarium tickets at the hotel for a great price with a no-additional-price two-day pass option - no lines, it was great, both days.

All of the lighting is in the ceiling so it leaves furniture surfaces bare so you've got space for your things. Only drawback was not having coffee pot in room and limited hours for coffee in office, so bring your own and use microwave. Great quality for the price, would definitely stay again.
