Hotel Guest Reviews of the Palms Retro
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.March 29, 2013

Overall a fun Florida experience. A throwback to years past as the name suggests. On-site staff were great. Very clean and quiet. Close to the beach on the edge of a residential neighborhood. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary!

I cannot brag on Palms Retro enough! I lived in this area in the 80's when this hotel was a homeless and crack head hangout. It was completely derelict and I don't know why it wasn't condemned. Was has been done to this place is amazing! The rooms, the themes, the incredibly accommodating staff, the breakfasts, every little detail is well thought out! Unique and very very cool. I felt transported to the 50's. Except better because I doubt the hotel had AC when it was built in 1946. The courtyard is so nice, we ate breakfast out there almost every morning. They will build a fire for you in the fire pit and there is also a BBQ grill. The 50's music played very low, adds to the wonderful ambiance. The rooms are very comfortable, and even if a party is going on on the courtyard, you can't hear a thing once you close the door. It's so nice that they allow and even encourage visitors. We had a small family gathering while we were there, so much fun! The location is great, walking distance to all kinds of restaurants, shops, and of course the beach. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we visit Jacksonville! ...

The hotel was great - it is an old courtyard style motel renovated very tastefully with decorated theme rooms...also had modern conveniences and was very clean. The beds were comforable and the linens were nice. The courtyard in the middle was shady with small tables and a fountain...a great place to relax with coffee in the morning. It was a nice change from the regular hotels and great to support a local business. ...

Wonderful hotel. Nice rooms and great atmosphere. "U" shaped hotel with 11 rooms all open to the garden/patio. Everyone meets on the patio at breakfast and in the evening for drinks and conversation. Great staff.
