Hotel Guest Reviews of the Queen Mary Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

It's only a few miles from home in OC. We came to see DIANA, The Exhibit and decided to stay for a night.
Unfriendly staff!

I booked a De Luxe King room for a night. We checked in at 7:00 p.m. and this unfriendly receptionist said they do not have my room ready and that they only have a Standard King room available. Of course, I insisted on getting what I paid for! It took a long time for another lady to fix the problem. There was a prom on the sun deck, I guess so it was LOUD the whole night! Another not-so-friendly service at The Promenade during breakfast. What made our stay enjoyable was the DIANA EXHIBIT. You can skip the guided tour and explore the old ship yourself at your own pace. Loved the little shops on the promenade, lots of good finds and souvenirs. ...read more

Ambiance
Cleanliness of room

Awesome history and ambiance! From my point of view its gorgeous the rooms are very nostalgic love the wood and lightening! Husbands point of view if the room wasnt on the ship and just in a normal hotel it would be a
XXX a night room, slanted floors layers of lacquer. So we both agree its a great experience and perfect if you are coming or going on a carnival cruise! Right next door how perfect! But the price is pretty high for what you get. Staff is fantastic and accommodating! Cafes, bars, and restaurants on ship are nice but expensive. Catalina island day trip boats leave right next door great for a day trip. Disneyland is 32 minutes away. Downtown long beach at night time is pretty unwelcoming and a little scary. price of rooms should be a lot lower. Best service and price for rental cars is enterprise! And they will pick you up! Stores in downtown long beach don't open until 10 FYI. ...read more

Best: The fact that we had an oceanview room and the old port-hole windows actually opened so that we could listen to the sea at night. Just walking around the ship at night watching the lights of the city behind us was enchanting.
We asked for directions to the Catalina ferry and got very vague answers. I'd suggest the front desk provide directions on a small piece of paper. When asked, just hand the hotel guest the printed directions to a specific place & send a happy guest away.

A fun stay in a very old ship with great history. Do walk around the ship as much as possible, as there is a lot to see and do take one of the escorted tours of the ship. The tour guides are passionate about the ship - they do a really good job. Expect that your room will not be a modern hotel room, as the rooms have had 77 years of use. Be sure and get a room with windows. We ate dinner in Chelsea Chowder House; chowder was great, but staff seemed overworked and short tempered. We liked the idea of a Starbucks onboard, so morning coffee was easy to get. Be prepared to pay $17.00 a night for parking. ...read more

Historical ambiance.
Charge for open parking and WiFi.

Better than expected great historical location and Downtown Long Beach is really nice. Shout out for Chucks diner! Aquarium was very cool.

The historical background
The maid knocked on our door around 8:00am & asked us when we would be leaving - we were leaving in a few minutes but had we still been sleeping we would of been upset.

Leaving
Leaking sink on floor, lack of furnishings, lack of lighting, poor ventilation, did not match description or pictures online, dark and dingy 1960s instead of 1940s, toilet didn't flush properly, overpriced and additional charges for everything.

Do not believe online pictures and description. While we had been greatly anticipating our stay on the Queen Mary, we instead experienced over-priced disappointment. Dark, dingy room with leaky sink and poorly functioning toilet (and so few furnishing as to be simply a bed in a room). Additional charges for everything, including internet and water. Even the vending machine didn't work! While the historical value of the Queen Mary is lovely, please just go on the tours and stay on shore for the hotel portion of your stay. ...read more

This was so awesome! Slept in a King Room with two portholes that can open up to smell the fresh sea air. I'm a naval history buff so I roamed the ship on my own self-guided tour. It was like being on a cruise but in port. Free shuttle to waterfront area.
Everything was great. Shops opened up late at 10 AM so I couldn't visit them due to my off ship visits during the day.

Really enjoyed the history of the Queen Mary and walking around the vessel. The breakfast buffet which I had for 3 mornings was very good. Staff was very attentive. The condition of the inside of the hotel was good. Some of the areas need some painting but that's the last thing on most to do lists. The shops on the Promo deck didn't open till 10 AM and I was off ship before then. When I came back after 6 PM they still were closed. Maybe open on weekends? The free Passport shuttle was great- left every 15 mins to the waterfront convention center, shops and food establishments. They have guided tours and "ghost" tours during the week and especially on weekends. Everything was great but I'm a naval history buff and I was in my glory! ...read more
