Hotel Guest Reviews of the Ramada Inn Lake Shore Chicago

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Well the price was OK. And they have free shuttles to main interesting places in Chicago. They also have good public transportation services, which I believe they should advertise more. Gooood speed of wi-fi.
They had no laundry room. Sometimes it is very needed and they said - well go couple of blocks outside and there is a public laundry room. They had no breakfast and no microwave, fridge in the room we stayed in. Everything is quite cheap and oldish.

It might be OK for the price and the city, but I still have a feeling that I paid too much. If you are ready to stay at the place and communte 30-40 minutes to the downtown Chicago and eat out or order food - it might be OK place to stay in. But it is definitely not the best hotel I stayed in. It is also needs full cleaning of the carpet. My kid spilled some water on the carpet and I used a napkin to wipe it off. It was extremely dirty. It feels like the cleaning stuff do not really clean the carpet. ...read more

the cafe food, the office center, and the closeness to a #6 bus. I liked that you are saving water by changing towels and sheets less.
Vending machines were pricey. I stayed there during renovation w/o air conditioning. Not sure it was worth
xxx before taxes for what you get.

If you want comfortable and easy with closeness to mass transit the Ramada is fine. It even had openings when I booked last minute and many places were full. If you want an above average stay and the best bang for your buck, I'd check other places.

The hotel was located in a beautiful area off the lake front. However the rooms were old, smelly and the carpet wasn't vacuum. The evelator didn't work properly. I had too take the stairs. I probably won't be visiting that hotel ever again.
Yes I didn't like anything about out. The rooms were old and smelly. Elevator didn't work and i had to request my room to be cleaned.

Poor room, do not recommend for travelors, nice location but needs lots of updates. Carpet need to be replace.

The best thing about this hotel was the fact it was close to museum campus and museum of science and industry. However this is not walking distance, there is lack of sidewalks to get to and from any other location other than this hotel.
I hated how hard it was to get transportation. The hotel offers a shuttle, they give you a schedule for the shuttle, listing Shedd aquarium, and Science industry museum as available upon request, but the hotel never knows when the driver will take you.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. In the room you can constantly hear plumbing running from other rooms. The staff behind the desk isn't sure what is ever going on with the shuttle, which makes it hard to make a plan. We had the desk call us a cab, for 5 people to go downtown, when the cab showed up it there wasn't enough room for all of us, when we asked her about it, she said well she called one so just to wait for another one that might come. We ended up calling for another cab ourselves and had to wait another 20 min on top of the 20 we already waited, making us over 30 min late for our reservations. The vending machines were empty, and the buffet for $10.95 wasn't appetizing. The pool is outdoor and seasonal, but it has large chips in the cement bottom, and looks disgusting. Personally I thought this hotel seemed so much better from what I had read, but was NOT worth $xxx a night. ...read more

The hotel was advertised to be located in a different area of Chicago than it actually was. Night-time hotel staff was not knowledgable of the area. Hotel room doors did not seal correctly. Housekeeping did not keep towels stocked.

Priceline advertises this hotel to be located in Grant Park. It's actual location is Hyde Park, 6 miles south of Grant Park. The rates were reasonable but the hotel staff did not provide the best experience.

Maybe it is near the lake and easy access to Lakeshore Dr.
I suppose for what I paid, I shouldn't expect much, but the smell of the old & dirty carpet got to me. Air is dry and hard to sleep 'cause of it. Horrible view - a pile or rocks. I ended up spending money on the cab to get downtown anyway. It needs works.

You get what you pay for. I tried to be cheap and that was exactly what I got. I appreciate the free parking, but I ended up spending money on the cab to get downtown anyway. One staff at the desk, so I had to wait for information. Shuttle service is available, but not convenient for the time I needed to get where I wanted to go. It needs works. The room smelled really bad due to old carpet. Walls are thin and we could hear everything next door and down the hall. I wasn't too thrilled about it, to say the least. ...read more

It seemed like the staff was always willing to help and the rooms were cleaned very well every day.
the location wasnt good, it cost roughly $30 to get a taxi downtown and it wasnt very close to any bus stops.

I overall thought it was a decent hotel, I will get a hotel closer to downtown if I ever make another trip to chicago.
