The location is perfect and the decor was nice.

I stayed here with my husband, and The Renaissance Baton Rouge was the perfect hotel in the perfect location for our recent vacation. We checked in about an hour or so before the regular check-in time, and I appreciated that they didn't make a "deal" about it. I have had many hotels act like we were putting them out or they were doing us some sort of huge favor by allowing an early check-in, but the staff at the Renaissance was friendly and easy to deal with. The room itself was nice and we enjoyed the decor and upgraded feel. As for the location, it was SO convenient to everything we wanted to do (shopping, dining, out of town excursions, etc.). This hotel is a beauty. It is new, modern and designed to fit in with the Louisiana countryside, e.g. cypress wood burls decorating the public spaces. Plus, it is in a great location. And, it has the usual terrific customer friendly Marriott staff.

The hotel is even better than the 3 1/2 star rating.

Check in was at 3pm. I arrived at the hotel for 6. The room still wasn't ready. Had to wait in the lobby until after 7 before the room was ready.

Staff was great. Joel at the front desk was a extremely helpful and professional.
Mold on shower curtain. Meal is bar came out late and cold.

This is the only 3 1/2 star hotel in the area. Located near plenty of restaurants and shopping.

The main entrance to the hotel was beautiful. Also, the room was nice.
Robes and a safe was not included in the room. Also, the telephone inside of my room was not for my hotel room.

Overall, the hotel was beautiful. However, I am not happy at all about my stay. Robes and a safe were not found in the room. Also, I found cereal around the couch from another guests previous stay. Also, guests were walking around and making a lot of noise early in the morning. The phone that was located in the room obviously was not even for the room I was staying in. I called room service to place an order and I noticed that my order had not been delivered. I called back again to find out what was going on and I was informed that the phone I was calling from was assigned to another room number. They completely disregarded my first order as a result. However, I placed an order for coffee, water, gumbo and a sandwich. My guest and I noticed that the coffee was warm and the container was broken and coffee was spilling through the bottom when we went to pour the coffee. Also, the gumbo was barely hot and looked as if it had been sitting for a while. I am extremely disappointed because I chose this hotel as a weekend getaway which I hardly get a chance to experience due to working a lot. I will never stay with this hotel again. ...read more
