Hotel Guest Reviews of the Riu Ocho Rios - All Inclusive

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

What I like best about the hotel were the staff memebers and my locations.
I do not like the bugs in our room. Each day we came in we have numerous amount of nets and bugs outside our door. Also the bed seem to have bed bugs as I thought they were mostioque bites but they are not.

My overall experience was great. However the few cons I had about the hotel is that staff memeber dont explain that even thou you purchase a calling card you still have to pay to be connected to call long distance. Each time you speak with a operator there is a charge. Change you money to JMB so that you are not riped off by people. Athough most people were friendly some were very friendly in front of other but disrespectful when other wasn't around. ...read more

The location, facilities, staff, and the food were all great. 3 additional restaurants (also included; however two require males to wear pants)
1) Two full sized beds pushed together does not a king-sized bed make. 2) Had one metal key, not the normal two key cards. 3) The dead-bolt lock still can be defeated by the staff's key 4) Since we are non-smokers, the public

The Riu Ocho Rios- great place for a quiet unwind.

I think the snorkeling was amazing and the food and staff were great!
Again, not the hotel's fault... but the other guests at the hotel. Free, unlimited wifi would be great.

I think I can say that the RIU is beautiful. We stayed for our honeymoon the last week in November and it was well kept, clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I thought the food was good and there were lots of choices everyday. The staff at the ocean bar was great! Honestly the only thing we didn't care for were the other guests at this hotel. I've traveled quite a bit and the other guests here reminded me of a trip a took to Paris. Little things that began to wear on you by the end of the week. No politeness, no appreciation for anything, and absolutely no courtesy to others what-so-ever. When an elevator opens you should let the people exit before you enter or at least don't block the door so they can exit. If you bump into someone say "excuse me" in whatever language you speak it will still be understood. When standing in line at a buffet, walk through it in an orderly fashion rather than cutting (rudely) in between people whereever you like. I don't know how anyone can stand living in chaos like that. Aren't you people happy to be on vacation? Try smiling once in a while. I actually overheard another guest say (as a cruise ship passed by the beach) "that thing is full of Americans... they ought to sink it". I didn't realize there could be so much hatred in paradise where no matter where you are from we all have something in common. We are all trying to relax and enjoy time away from working. So, if you like hanging around Europeans and Canadians this will be the perfect place for you. Before we came to the RIU in Ocho Rios we stayed a week at the Sunspree (Holiday Inn) in Montego Bay and while it is older, and smaller we had an amazing time. Again, nothing against the RIU or any of their employees. I think next time I would opt for a less "fancy" place and hopefully travel with other people that are happy to be on vacation. ...read more

The bar staff, grounds keeping staff and water sports staff were very nice.
They never did fix our TV or the ants in the room. There was dead bugs and mold growing behind glass of picture frames. Check in was a disaster..

It took 90 minutes to check in. We booked two rooms and they only could find one on record. When we did arrive to the rooms one was in disarray. There were ants in the rooms. The TV in one room only had a few channels and the one in the other room had several. We called to ask them to fix it twice and they never responded. Front desk manager was extremely irritated in dealing with us at check in. There were dead bugs and mold growing behind the picture frame glass. We have stayed in Jamaica before on different occasions and were never treated this poorly. In fact we love Jamaica and its people but this was a bad experience. I would not recommend this resort to anyone. ...read more

Wonderful setting.
The buffet was not the tastiest, as
we have been to.

Overall this hotel clearly meet our expectations, the hotel is lovely and the staff really made us feel welcome.

The place was like a cruse ship on land

The Riu is to me the most wonderful place anyone wanting to vacation and relax without spending an enormous amount of money and have all the comfort of a five star hotel.

Reception area, accommodation, food and workers were great. I would recommend this hotel.
Nightly entertainment was good but was not for children. Need entertainment was age 12 and under.

Hotel accommodation, food and workers good. Nightly entertainment geared for adults, but well structured and entertaining.
