Hotel Guest Reviews of the Roberts Riverwalk Hotel
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.May 7, 2013

The hotel was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The front desk was helpful and called a taxi for me. The shuttle is not always available, would have been good to know ahead of time.

A beautiful hotel in a great location the neighborhood was quiet, the river walk is a definite plus. Rooms were very nice with high ceilings. Atwater brewery and They Say restaurant are within walking distance. They Say is a fantastic little restaurant, best wings I have ever had. The customer service was below what I would have expected for the price. I forgot tooth paste and they didn't have any more, they assured me three time they had a shuttle available to take me to a conference downtown. After paying $15 for a cab ride in the morning because a shuttle wasn't available, I called in the afternoon to have the shuttle pick me up and was told again, it wasn't available. I spoke with the manager, Walter, and he had a shuttle there for me within 10 minutes. From then on I dealt with the manager for any of my needs. On the bright side, I asked to moved to a river view room for the second night of my stay and they were more than accommodating to this request. ...

The hotel was an older hotel, but it was clean and up dated in many ways. We will stay there again if we ever go back and do recommend others to stay there.

Paid for a king room, got a queen. Waiting to see if I get a refund from Priceline... A main reason for staying here was the supposedly free shuttle to Cobo Hall (downtown). The shuttle runs when they can find a driver, which isn't often. The first morning the chef drove me. Maybe that's why my breakfast took so long. The second morning, the hotel called a cab, which they wouldn't pay for. Same thing the third morning, even after giving them a heads-up the night before. Staff is nice enough when you can find them. One morning the waitress had to call the chef to locate him to make my breakfast - maybe he was driving the shuttle... Overall not a bad place - a nice old building right on the water, but give yourself extra time for everything, especially if traveling for business. ...

Extremely slow check in. $50 "key" deposit (really?) No shuttle service available even though it is advertised on the website. Very old and dated decor/wallpaper.

ever see the british show "Fawlty Towers"? if they ever filmed a US version of the show, THIS IS THE PLACE! the place is located in an isolated, desolate, deserted location in the warehouse district right on the detroit river just east of the downtown. there literally was nobody around the area and even less staying at the hotel. the three staff members vehicles in the parking lot outnumbered the guest vehicles 3-2. we stayed over 4 nights (MON-THURS) and every morning i seriously walked out expecting my car to either be (A)completely gone, (B)on blocks, (C)broken into or (D) just plain vandalised. but to be fair, miraculously, nothing bad happened. this despite a lot that was supposed to be manned by a security guard and was supposed to be secured by fencing and a locked gate at night. the security guard was non existant, his guard station was a leaning "outhouse" that looked like it hadnt been occupied in years and the locked gate was open all night long everynight despite the front desk lady saying it locks at 11pm. the front desk staff was completely useless with the exception of one guy (walter) who knew what he was doing. the other staff looked like walter had asked his cousin or buddys wife to fill in at the front desk while he was gone. they looked at the computer screen with complete bewilderment everytime we came down to ask a question. when we went down to tell her that our room telephone was dead and didnt work, the front desk lady said "im sorry to hear that" and just sat there eating potato chips. when i asked her "well arent u gonna send a guy up to fix it", she said "nope" and continued shoving the potato chips in. then she uttered this gem: "dont u have a cell phone"? when i said "thats not the point and can u move us to a room that DOES have a phone that works"? she once again said "nope", and that "most of the phones dont work due to the close proximity of the water" WHAT??? and good luck gettin them to make good on the free shuttle downtown. ...

I've stayed at this hotel before (when formerly known as the Omni), and it appeared to be in better shape during those stays. I doubt any upgrades were made under current ownership, because it is starting to show its age. The elevator just off the main lobby was out of service. My room was very small and the carpets were stained and had an overall dirty appearance. The walls/baseboard in the room had marks all over them. The telephone didn't work. I never attempted to operate the TV, so that I can't comment on. The staff in the lobby weren't overly friendly. The gentleman driving the shuttle van for us was very nice though, he seemed to be enjoying his day. Despite all of this, I would stay here again, but only for the sole purpose of crashing after a night out in the city. I wouldn't attempt to impress a date with this choice. ...
