Royal Pagoda Motel

I understand this motel is in Chinatown in LA, however it would be nice if more than one staff member had a slight grasp on the English language. There was literally only one man who could speak English (a younger man, maybe 20's? he was very very nice). The other people that worked there could not have a conversation with us due to the language barrier. Also, they were very rude. They called to tell us that we needed to check out or pay again and the other person tried to explain that we already paid for another night and had a receipt but the staff person began to YELL at him. I had to leave my business meeting to go deal with it and when I showed proof that we had paid the previous day, there was not even an apology to me. I have never experienced and definitely do not appreciate being treated like that by a business that I am patronizing and paying money to. It's sufficiently clean with absolutely no frills whatsoever. The parking lot filled up the 2nd night I was there so I had to park on the street at a meter. But I guess my timing was bad. I though I was okay if I moved it before 9 am but ended up with a ticket that I was not happy about.

cheap, clean and conviniece. The bed is not firm but for a $56 ( plus tax) its alright.

This motel needs to upgrade their hygienes.

The motel's best aesthetic appeal was the neon red lights that border the roof and building. Its an older motel so there is still hardwood floors. The staff were all really polite and helpful. Parking was a bit of an issue, but manageable.

This hotel was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at. The hotel was located in the middle of China town in an unsafe area. The room was old and outdated with old wooden floors and had an old dirty shower. The towels were old and stained and the entire room smelt musky and dirty. It was not good for my children's asthma. Parking is very limited and when I asked the hotel staff about whether or not my car would be safe there they responded I don't know. Seriously, this room reminded me of a hotel that you would find in a scary movie. It had a huge closet with a door that I barricaded with furniture in-front of it as I was concerned that it could join another room or give someone access to our room. I put 5 suitcases against the front door of our room for safety and did not sleep all night. I was not trying to be paranoid but that is how unsafe I felt there. It was a horrible experience for a mom traveling with 2 girls. If I had been able to get another room in LA quickly I would have left in the middle of the night.
