Hotel Guest Reviews of the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.May 1, 2013

An absolutely lovely hotel! You can walk the marina which is right behind the hotel. 10 minutes from the front of hotel is the happening gas lamp district which is a must-visit.

Everything is great at this hotel. The staff, rooms, onsite restaurants, pools, the list goes on. There is so much within walking distance. If you don't want to pay valet or the bellmen, you can self park, check-in and bring your stuff to your room on your own. We have little kiddos with a lot of stuff, so we typically do the bellmen, check-in and then self park when we arrive. When we leave, we don't have as much stuff (snacks, water, etc) so we bring our stuff down. This can save $20-$50. I know some travelers mentioned the train noise, but we didn't hear it except when we had the patio door open. ...

I really liked this hotel and would like to use it again. We stayed there for the annual Hot Chocolate Run and were within walking distance of the race (Petco Park) and the seaport village. Great time, beautiful hotel, pool, view and people.

As a couple with 2 kids (8 & 6) we usually stay in Embassy Suite kind of hotels, so they can watch their own tv shows and we can have a little space. This was our last stop in our SoCal road trip, got a great deal in priceline. We arrived late at night and the girl in the front desk was extremely helpful. The room was great, probably recently remodelated. We also had an awesome view of the bay. We left early in the morning the next day but we enjoyed the lobby and the starbucks there. Great location so we will consider it for our next visit to San Diego. ...

Overall our stay was excellent. The hotel does feel very high class. We stayed there with two kids and upon our arrival the staff gave the kids two goodie bags filled with crayons, sunglasses, or plastic beach toys. Another unexpected surprise was that our room had a small fridge under the TV. Below are some other things I think others might find useful.Alternative Parking:- ABM parking across the street might be a little cheaper. It cost $16 for 24 hours parking on weekdays and $23 for 24 hours on weekends. One good benefit is that this place is not manned. You enter and leave as your please. Just leave your paid stub with time stamped on it on your dash.- Conference Center parking is right next to the hotel. $10 parking but without in and out privileges. You also are not supposed to park overnight here. One night I came in late and the lady told me this.Grocery:- Ralph's. It is about 2 - 3 blocks away from the hotel. Just go down 1st Ave. The front of the store is on G Street, but they have free parking under the store which you enter on 2nd Ave or Market Street.Business Center:- The business center is not free. Minimum charge is $6.95. It is located in the UPS Store near the South building.WiFi:- Wifi is free in the lobby area. The wifi name has the word "Public" in it. Connect to it and then open a browser. Follow the screen and select free 24 hours. When your 24 hours runs out, you have to go through the screen selection again then it is free for another 24 hours.Hotel dining:- Marina Kitchen. Although the food was good, it was on the expensive side. I remember seeing steak for $48. Didn't order because it was just over the top for me. This place has different areas. One for more formal dining and a more casual dining in the front with sofa and wifi browsing. ...

This is a great place to stay. Incredible views and weather. Pool area is wonderful. Bring a little cooler with a few waters or maybe wine and a couple crackers and you'll be fine. Relaxing in the room without your own snacks can be a little hungry or really expensive.

Close to gaslamp, seaport village, trolley and children's discovery museum. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They went the extra mile with us on check-in (water, chocolates, kindness, room choice) and treated us and my twin 6 year olds like we owned the place. Very impressed with the staff.
