Hotel Guest Reviews of the St. James Hotel, An Ascend Hotel Collection
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.May 5, 2013

This hotel is entirely a non-smoking facility, which I found to be an outstanding feature. There's a courtyard between the two buildings which comprise the hotel, where you can sit for some peace and quiet. The lady at the front desk was most helpful and exhibited the southern charm which you associate with the South. There's valet parking available which was greatly appreciated, as parking is at a minimum. Overall, we loved the St. James and plan to definitely stay there again in the future! ...

I have already reported to my travel club which we normally take a block of 12-20 rooms....we elected to stay in various hotels as it was our first time back to NOLA since before Katrina to see what we could expect. The furniture was not in good shape, odd and end looking. The safe did not work and the room door was quite difficult to work the locks as though not hanging properly. The keys had to be recoded several times. One time the key would be put in the slot correctly and get red lights, the next green flashing...after several attempts it could finally be opened. There was no forewarning that the hotel did not have it's own parking and when I checked out they had no bellman...so some maintenance/housekeeper was sent after my car. This person or the bellman who parked my car messed with the stereo system and messed up all my settings. In brief I would not recommend the St James as a kennel much less a hotel. ...
