Hotel Guest Reviews of the Sunset Beach Resort

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The location is great. The staff were very polite and helpful, the room was nice but the grill on he beach as awesome. Food very good and staff incredible!
Wish the room had a fridge.

Location was close to the beach and conveniently close to Cape Charles
The hot water was out for two of the four days. We had to leave and stay at another hotel.

The staff was friendly, and after talking to the front desk clerk, I was able to only pay for one of the two nights, since the hot water was out.

The grounds are beautiful!
We greatly enjoyed the private beach, but it could have been cleaner. It is very peaceful here with a beautiful setting.
I felt the room was overpriced for the quality, but it did serve the purpose. Still were not given the larger suite which we have tried to get many ti

We love to go here, and will return. I do feel the price is too high for the quality of the rooms, but the view and landscaping, combined with the private beach, make up for it to an extent. It is not a 5 star hotel, but as I said, the grounds are beautiful and I enjoyed relaxing by the pool. My only complaint is that we have never been able to get the larger suite with jacuzzi in room and not in bathroom, although we have requested it and it was vacant during our stay. ...read more

Location, current state of the rooms and glass/other debris located all over their private beach.

Rooms were small, dated and didn't seem to be cleaned very well. Bathrooms were rusted and in need of repair. Private beach was nice but was in better use for partying and had glass from broken bottles in the shallow portions of the water. Not happy but unfortunately was aligned with the price.

The beach and the location.
Run down room, filthy floor, cigarette burns on the blanket, room smelled bad.

Adequate is the best I can say about this location. Luckily, we needed to be out most of the time, the less time spent in that room the better. There was too much noise, the parking was not great, everything flooded when it rained, and the vending and ice machine area was constantly flooded, even when it was not raining. There was a never ending stream of insects, including large spiders and cockroaches. It was a place to sleep, and it was convenient. ...read more

It was fairly quiet with plenty of parking.
The corners of the room were not cleaned very well and the water had a bad taste.

It is a fairly decent place to stay but not worth the fee.

The music at the grill
Only 1 restaurant on location, and pool was dirty

Overall we had a good time. There was music at the Sunset Beach grill and cornhole. I was not happy with the quality of the food or customer service. When we went to leave and got breakfast the final morning, the A/C went out in the main lobby which made it hard to eat. I also got food poisoning from the food eaten at the Grill.

Poor location, unclean and run down.

It may have been nice once, but is run down and a bit of a dump now.

Very conveniently located and was nice to have the pool and beach area for something to do upon arrival in the afternoon - with our extended family
Hotel is showing its age - many things are old and could use updating. (but so am I)

Hotel staff was courteous. Beach bar/restaurant food was very good - better shrimp and crab dip than we found in the Outer Banks restaurants.
