The pool staff--all the Chris', & the front desk staff were great!
The view from the room was a wall & cell service was bad & the wi-fi worked everywhere but in our room

The restaurant in the front of the hotel is better than the one that services the pool.

Great location!
Poor shower pressure and no cold water from the sink faucet. Also took a very long time to be served a beer at poolside.

We liked everything about the hotel: location, modern up to date furnishings and decorations. We liked the whole house AC vrs a room unit which for us makes too much noise. We also could open a window for fresh air--very important to us. We like the size of the place not too small and not too large. The pool was nice. It was heated and clean. Lots of staff to make sure everything was OK. The ONLY thing we did not like was the way the TV worked. We wanted to watch regular TV often ; News, etc. It took FOREVER to get to regular TV. There was no clear path shown to get you to regular TV. The numbers and letters on remote were small, dark and hard to read. ...read more

Staff was nice and helpful, hotel had a very convenient location, pool side area was nice.
Did not have a hot tub, elevators were slow.

The fees and charges were more than anticipated.

It's a Kimpton, so you know what that means. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is great, right on the beach. The pool/beach were both very enjoyable and not too crowded. We walked to shops and restaurants with ease.
Not really. Yea the rooms are on the smaller side, but who cares? It's Miami Beach, you shouldn't be in your room all that much

My wife and I only stay at Kimptons if we have the option. The service is always outstanding and each hotel has it's own uniqueness. The Surfcomber is in a great spot and I would absolutely stay here again

All of the staff was incredibly helpful and cheerful!
Rooms were small, but that's Miami. Walls were paper thin - could definitely hear EVERYTHING from the rooms on each side of me.

Location, decor and friendliness of staff
The only issue I had was with housekeeping in the morning constantly opening and closing the doors with the locks ajar. It was quite loud.

Loved the wine hour

Unbeatable locale - 2 blks from Lincoln, next to SLS, right on the ocean. Very helpful valet (just don't try to get your car at noon when everyone else is coming in). Definitely continued to enjoy amenities long after checkout.
Valet at noontime is packed and demanding - get your car early or after. Bathroom door did not close properly: had to pull hard to get it all the way closed.

Interesting decor, I still don't understand what the plastic farm animals are about. Don't be frightened by the word "boutique" in the description. Boutique doesn't mean shoddy, gaudy or cheap. It simply means not cookie cutter. I appreciated the decor. The staff were very helpful in recommending places to eat - I was not disappointed by any of their suggestions. The concierge secured a 9pm reservation for my friend and I at a 4 star restaurant and called for our transportation. We did not have to carry our bags at any time. Valet were generally attentive, punctual and on point. Free wine at 5-6pm is a nice way to start the evening. Private entrance to beach. The room numbers in the 160s do not have a view at all. We had a small window (maybe 30" x 18") in the bedroom area and that was the only way to get natural light. The bed was large and comfortable. Very important - the only place I could find an easily accessible wall charger for phone/Ipad was in the bathroom. One is tightly fit behind the tv, but this could be attributed to the type of room that I was in. Outside ambiance was nice. There is an outdoor bar, plenty of lounging room, a swing and the beach. Hot towels are available and there are plenty of spa/massage opportunities. Overall, very pleasant stay. Might stay here again. Considering the price we were working with, we were pleased with what we got. ...read more

The free happy hour.
The only reason I gave the room an 8 out of 10 was because the bathrooms were small and sink drain was broken. This would not keep me from coming back to the hotel.

This Hotel had very nice amenities. They had a calendar that listed different activities every day of the month. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. I loved the free happy hour from 5-6, a very nice treat. The grounds were beautiful. Overall, my husband and I really like this hotel and will definitely be back when we visit South Beach. The Surfcomber hotel really gives you a Bang for your Buck! ...read more
