The Inn At Blackbeard's Castle

I'm gonna stay there again when I go back

Pros: The views at this hotel are beautiful, and the staff was extremely helpful and fun. It was a convenient cab ride to Frenchtown, the Red Hook ferry, and Havensight. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and even had a great balcony. Cons: It's not safe to walk around the neighborhood after dark, and you'll want to venture out since there's not an on-site restaurant and there's not much of a social scene at the hotel bar (Salty Dog). The hotel didn't have a microwave. The hotel is not on a beach (but I don't know if you can get beach access in this price range). A lot of cruise ship tourists visit Blackbeard's Castle and the on-site rum factory so the idea of laying out by the pool amongst all the fully dressed tourists armed with cameras wasn't appealing. I booked my trip last minute so with most places booked, I didn't have the opportunity to see how this hotel compared to others in the same price range. My number #1 tip would be to stay on St. John but if you're staying on St. Thomas and Blackbeard's is what fits in your budget, I'd say book it.
