Hotel Guest Reviews of the The James New York

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. The Location was perfect for my needs that weekend. Staff was very warm and friendly
I was disappointed with room service breakfast. It seemed as thought the eggs came out of a carton and were not real.

Great location, very helpful staff, wonderful beds and great shower. I also really like the filtered water and "sustainable" orientation of the hotel and it's amenities.

Great location! Very upscale atmosphere.
We were not given a corner queen room, which is what we reserved.

The rain shower was amazing - the morning pastry was great - overall a great experience.

Location, all new, good view at high floor, great rooftop bar, free morning coffee and pastry, free Wi-Fi.
Room a bit too small for the cost, Rooftop bar closed to hotel guest due to private event.

The hotel is very nice, conveniently located on the border of Soho, literally just few steps away from West Broadway. The view from the high floor rooms is nice and the one from the roof-top bar (with external pool) is fantastic. The idea of free coffee and pastry in the morning is very nice, it saves you time and gives you a sort of home feeling. The wine and cheeses in the evening can be improved, I understand they have a budget but a little more generosity wouldn't hurt. The hotel room a quite small, the neighboring Thompson hotel might be holder but the superior king room are quite larger. A major turn-off was arriving one evening with a guest and finding the roof-top bare closed for a private event, unaccessible even to hotel guests. When I chose an hotel I also pay close attention to the facilities they offer, something they never forget to highlight in their marketing. But if those facilities are not available to me then the value of the hotel changes quite dramatically. At least they could advice people well in advance to avoid embarrassing situation, and maybe do something to apologize for the inconvenience they are creating. Extra generosity on the morning breakfast, juices and snap in the all that afternoon, something after all they are making double money on the bar.
