Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Modern Honolulu
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.April 28, 2013

The ambiance was wonderful! If you go in during the day.....can you find the "hidden" lounge?? The resort is not ON the beach but very close. You can view the beach from the pool area though this spot does not have a beach front but rather a view of the marina. There are LOTS of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The ONLY parking options are Valet.

The hotel is around the Hilton Hawaiian Village which is about one mile above the touristy section of Waikiki Beach. For cheap eats, there are lots of chain restaurants right around the hotel such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Red Lobster. The concierge at the hotel is extremely helpful for getting you places and to whatever you need

Park at metered parking across the way and avoid the garage and valet.

The hotel has two fabulous swimming pools, which seem to get direct sunlight from about 11am onward, and there is a lagoon next door (accessible from the boardwalk next to the first floor pool. They have wonderful restaurants nearby, and both the front desk staff and concierge are extremely helpful. Also, the lobby is filled with the intoxicating scent of plumeria. There is not an in room coffee maker - instead they brew and serve coffee in the study off the lobby and the coffee is wonderful, I preferred it to Starbucks! ...

Don't ever try to valet parking. Way too expensive for $28. Park at street for only $1 an hour for as long as you like.

This hotel is definitely "modern". The rooms were spacious. The design, decor is upscale and modern. It is a contemporary hotel. It was very clean and the hotel staff were extremely nice. We definitely felt the aloha spirit, especially with the welcome drink (cilantro lemonade) and cold towels to cool us down from the island heat.

Everything about the hotel was fine except that my room was located over the bar (15 stories up) and it was very loud especially on Sat night. Will probably not stay there again. If I do return, I will make sure to get room on pool/harbor side of building.

Amazing hotel with beautiful rooms and nice pool. A bit far from Waikiki's main attractions but close to the beach and right next to the Hilton's lagoon (fireworks). Try their Frozen Coconut Mojito by the pool; pricey but really good.
