The Monarch Resort

The hotel was clean and fairly quiet. The manager was very friendly. We were there for only one night but, both the wireless and Ethernet Internet did not work in our room. I had to take my laptop into the public lobby.

Carpets were dirty, bed uncomfortable & a very musty smell from all the dirt in the halls. Furniture was old & mismatched. Seemed more like a Motel 6 than a Pacific Grove Resort. Will not stay again. Sorry.

Loved the hotel because it was not a motel like so many accommodations in the Monterey area. The hotel was clean and the staff was very accommodating. As a single woman traveling, I felt safe staying at the Monarch and will stay there again next time I'm in the area. Plus, the price was right.

Clean, comfortable & quiet. Good value.

The hotel was very acceptable with the sole exception of the icy hot tub. The staff, for the most part, were helpful by not extremely attentive.

It is shabbier, less well maintained and the staff was not at all user friendly.

The staff considered it was described as being a resort, where we could walk out to the ocean, we felt deceived by that description. The walk was very long to get to the ocean. The room had a fireplace in it, but no wood or anything with which to make a fire, which would've made it a little more enjoyable. We will never visit it again, nor will we refer it to anyone.

We went to celebrate our 24th Wedding Anniversary and expected a lot nicer and romantic setting. The furniture looked like it was very old and the hot tub was broken!
