Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Rex Hotel Jazz & Blues Bar
Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.March 19, 2013

Generally speaking if you are looking for a frugal place to stay then this would fit into that category. The room was a small standard room with a bathroom however the floor of the shower was stained and no toiletries other than a small bar of cheap soap. Towels were clean and refreshed daily and the staff offered more if needed. The hotel is above a jazz club however the rooms are very quiet. There is no perk of being a hotel guest when it comes to cover charge at the bar; everyone pays! The hotel is in close proximity to many of Toronto's main attractions. It is located near the fashion district as well as Chinatown. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. There is no parking at the hotel but there is a public parking lot a block down the street on St-Patrick Street however be warned that on weekends the cashier doesn't start before 10am so your car is locked in until that time. If you plan on using your car to get anywhere early in the morning then do not park there (Vinci parking). The hotel offers free coffee/tea and toast in the morning at the bar starting at 8am. No ice dispenser or fridge available. Overall if you are looking for a somewhat inexpensive place to stay with the mare minimums then the Rex isn't that bad but if you have high standards, this place isn't for you! ...

The room was fairly basic, but it was clean, had a comfortable bed and en suite with shower.

It's a funky little hotel but a great find. It's actually a jazz bar with the rooms upstairs. Surprisingly, the rooms were very quiet. With everyone's concern about bedbugs these days, it was very reassuring that the room had clean wood floors, stainless steel racks for clothing and no fabric window coverings. The room was impeccably clean.
