Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Roger Smith Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The rooms were large for NY. We were accommodated nicely. It was fairly quiet and convenient to Times Square.
The parking costs were not discussed when we arrived and we rushed to see a show and forgot our credit card.

Location and let us check bags in early at no cost.
Small elevators.

Staff went above and beyond for our trip. They upgraded us to a suite and it was the best part of our 2 day trip to New York City. We went with kids and friends and did the typical sightseeing trip and the hotel was our highlight. Staff helped us with dinner places that fit our budget and great with things to do with the kids.

The location was amazing and the staff was extremely accommodating.
The room was very warm but this was fixed quickly once the front desk was notified.

The staff was very friendly.
Very old, bad plumbing. Shower went from cold to scalding and back again repeatedly.

Needs a renovation badly.

Clean, well-decorated, friendly staff, spacious rooms, and great location.
In lower levels, you can hear the street a little bit, but it's not too much.

Clean, spacious rooms, very tasteful and classic decoration. Perfect for all kinds of travelers. The staff at the front desk is really helpful and very nice. I really recommend staying in this hotel.

Great location, close to subways & many great restaurants & bars.
Staff was friendly but somewhat incompetent. Didn't seemed concerned with customer service...

I recently stayed at the Roger Smith with a small group of friends for 5 days. The first impression was adequate (clean room, good location, friendly staff) however; on the third day of our stay, the power went out in our room and after waiting on maintenance for almost an hour, they finally showed up, looked around for a few minutes and then disappeared with no explanation. He was aware that we were all getting ready for a day of sightseeing (almost all of us with wet hair, etc). After 1 1/2 hr (& many phone calls) we finally talked the front desk into letting us finish getting ready in another room so we wouldn't have to go out in the 20 degree weather w/ wet hair.... We asked them to call us if the power would not be fixed before 5:00 so that we would have time to pack up and move to another room without missing our dinner reservations (that we'd had for weeks). At 6:00 we return to the hotel (not receiving a phone call) to find a pitch black room. The front desk was unapologetic and after another 1/2hr finally found another room for us... even though there are multiple open rooms on our floor, we had to pack up in the dark and move to a completely different floor... No help or compensation was offered or acknowledged. Although this was somewhat of a rare circumstance, the way we were treated w/out regard was rather unappealing and we won't be returning to this hotel in the future.
