Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Westin San Diego

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Pleasant staff, clean room, comfortable bed.
Parking was an outrageously high $32 per night, and only option was valet, but signage was confusing, especially since valet entrance is right next to the self-parking entrance for the adjacent office building.

The price
Our room smelled of cigarettes and sour milk even though it was a non-smoking room. We asked for room freshener at the front desk at around 9:30 pm. They told us housekeeping would come up but never showed. They called an woke us up at 11:30 pm instead.

The hotel is run down and cluttered. The carpets are dirty. The service is pretty bad for a Weston. The room we had was very oddly shaped with the bed very far from the television. The carpets were dirty and it smelled really bad. When we asked for help with this they said that housekeeping would come up but instead they called us two hours later after 11:30 pm and woke us up to talk about the smell instead of fixing it. The phones were hard to answer, why can't they just put a simple phone in the room that you can pick up when it rings. The location is next to court house and hard to navigate by car. The Weston Gaslamp is much better for almost the same price. The lobby of the hotel is confusing and features very little in terms of hotel services. Clearly this hotel is geared at business and supporting the court house next door. ...read more

Staff were very courteous, they provided us with complementary wi-fi and a roll-a-way bed. Location was excellent for easy walking access to all of the downtown areas and attractions. Beds were comfortable.
The hotel parking was expensive ($32/day), so we recommend parking in the ramp across the street or a few blocks away if you're on a budget.

The lobby bar was a nice surprise for a refreshing drink and the bar Manager, Brandon, was so very helpful in informing us of local sites and providing restaurant suggestions!

We upgraded to a room with a view so that was nice. The rooms are large, fast elevators, adequate bar with a happy hour.
It was difficult to walk anywhere in the city from our location without seeing homeless people. Many asked for money, some were being arrested so that is not pleasant to witness. We did a lot of walking around the city so we saw it all.

The hotel is nice but I have stayed in nicer ones in downtown, harbor area of San Diego. It was more money than I paid for the nicer one too.

Windows were very dirty. There were leftover supplies from the previous stay on the floor.

The delicious water at the check in area and the it was relatively close to Gaslamp Quarter.
The service checking in was not very good. Also the shower had mold and mildew and the bedding looked dingy.

This hotel was okay. For the money The Omni is a WAY better choice. I don't think I would stay at this hotel again unless I got a super great deal.

The front desk staff were professional but not overly friendly.
We did not like the first room assigned- it was small and faced internal to an office building. We did request another room and we were upgraded to a larger room with a better view!

You can park across the street at the overnight parking for $15/night- in after noon out before noon- so it worked out great. Otherwise valet parking at the hotel is $32. Great location for restaurants and a mall is closeby. The bed and pillows were VERY comfortable.

The staff helped us a lot, including where to eat, where to park, where to go.
I hope the room can be a little bit bigger.

This hotel is really good, it's closed to gaslamp where you can find a lot of restaurants.
