Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Westport Inn, An Ascend Collection Hotel

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The hotel was fairly clean and provided abundant fluffy pillows. Check-in was fast and easy.
The hotel is essentially a motel along a busy road. As is common among motels, if you keep your curtains open for light, other guests walking to their rooms can look into your room. No refrigerator or bar in the room. The gym is tiny.

This is a motel along the highway, somewhat refurbished and kept clean but a 2-story motel nonetheless, probably a 2-star, but definitely not 3-star. The windows open to the front, so other guests walk by your window as is common among old motels. The rooms are clean, and beds are comfortable with lots of pillows. The gym is tiny. No refrigerator or bar. The bathtub overflow drain appeared to be sealed -- so if you fill the tub it could overflow -- and the bathtub drain mechanism does not work properly; it's unusual for a motel to be careless with plumbing issues on the second floor. The Westport Inn is fine for a 1-nite stay, but not appropriate for my business trip. I will stay elsewhere on my next trip. ...read more

Great staff. Adorable little restaurant and 4-stool lounge.
Not enough parking.

Great location for parents of students attending Fairfield University. Small fitness room. There is a heated indoor pool.

Did the hotel have great rooms, a fantastic location, helpful staff?
This Is Not A 3 Star Level Hotel. More Like A Motel. Do Not Want To Stay There Again.

Location. Fitness area.
Noise. Housekeeping. Front desk staff. Room finishes.

This was OK for what I paid through Priceline. Rooms have been updated somewhat in front building, however, new doors that don't let in cold air would have been great and outlets that actually were from this decade and were able to hold plugs would have been good instead of the maze of extension cords under the desk. No place to plug in computer or phone without unplugging the Tv or lamps. Housekeeping came whenever they felt like it. Rarely left coffee or the correct amount of towels to replace the dirty ones. Closet door came off the track, had to request it be fixed twice and the repairman seemed annoyed. No apologies for it happening in the first place. Front desk staff were kids, not over friendly or helpful or professional. Parking was a problem at times, but the staff parked right in the front taking spaces away from guests. If you want a quiet night's sleep, don't stay in the front right off the parking lot. People talking out in the parking lot all hours of the night right outside your VERY drafty door from the 60's. Really, you update the motel and don't put new doors on?? Liked the location and if I could get it for cheaper than $60, I would stay their again, but it's not worth any more than that. Certainly not worthy of any more than 2 stars. ...read more

The hotel is in a good location - very convenient to Westport area and easy access to I95. Good computer equipment, printerss, and free internet.
The room I was given using Priceline was small and it could be accurately described as "tiny". It reminds me of the tiny rooms I have seen in Japan. If you stretch you legs in bed, you would be bumping the front door.

Frindely staff and common area such as lounge with firplace, bar, and restaurant were nicely maintained. Rooms are small and aged but generally clean.

The manager was willing to comp me a night through Priceline and offered to send me a voucher for a free stay.
The promised pool was down for cleaning the entire time we were there-the ONLY reason I picked this hotel over any other. Door key stopped working three times in a row; kept having to have it reset at the front desk. Manager unavailable for hours on end.
