Built in 1920 by railway tycoon Henry Flagler, this lodging (on the National Register of Historic Places) has the "best location" in the area, and it's also just about the only one with "its own beachfront" and two oceanfront pools; the "redone rooms are lovely", the staff pleasant and the atmosphere very "old Key West", but you'll have to "go down to Duval Street" for decent dining say those who judge the food "mediocre."

Hemingway and Tennessee Williams are among the guests who have fallen under the "romantic charm" of this hotel built in 1926 (and renovated post-Survey), where the rooms are "small" but "plush", "sunsets on the roof are amazing" and a "fantastic" location "in the heart of all the action" on Duval Street offers "easy access" to "shopping and nightlife"; just watch out for "dark" quarters (it's "impossible to read in the room"), "expensive parking" and "teenagers in the hallways all hours of the night."
