"Puzzles" abound on the "ultimate setting for that country-club-for-a-day feel", this "secluded" Jay Morrish layout south of Austin that features tricky "holes in the woods" with "plenty of wildlife" and "greenery" but "no homes" surrounding them; nature lovers declare it "the best bang for your buck" (or doe) for "very good service" and a "well-maintained" course that's "getting better and better"; "bring your sticks and have a blast" – just "avoid it in spring when the trees can be worm-infested."

This "sneaky" but "fun" spread in Austin's Barton Creek resort group receives mixed reviews: while some find it "the easiest" of the four courses and thus "enjoyable for all levels", others insist "the greens are tough to putt" and can be "too difficult for the average golfer"; either way, it's a winner for hotel guests who applaud the "spectacular facilities", including an upscale spa and pool area.

"Long, gorgeous and diabolical", this "outstanding" Tom Fazio design "challenges you with every shot and requires everything in your bag to score" on a layout that's perhaps "the prettiest" and "most fun" of the Barton Creek siblings; since it's two miles from the resort, with many holes "so isolated you can't see anyone else", expect "incredible views" and plenty of wildlife; N.B. caddies required on both Fazio courses.

Fans of Tom Fazio's original Barton Creek course say it's "every bit as good if not better" than the Canyons and makes "subtle" use of the natural landscape: "one minute you're in the valleys, the next minute in woods", which tip-toe around the cliff-lined fairways, waterfalls and natural limestone caves; it's a classic that just "keeps getting better", with the "outstanding facilities" and "excellent service" you'd expect from a "premier resort" experience.

"Always underrated" is how fans view this Arnold Palmer design that's an "ego-builder", even though it can "challenge all levels" with "several spectacular holes", including the signature 11th featuring "a 'special' waterfall" in front of the green; "excellent service" and a "rolling Hill Country setting" with "some nice views" of Lake Travis also make it "worth" the 25-mile drive from the resort.
