"There's not a bad seat in the house" at this "huge", glass-walled "jewel" of an arena that's located in Downtown Dallas and home to the NBA Mavericks and NHL Stars, as well as various concerts, circuses and events; "Texas-size portions" of BBQ and a soda shop modeled after a vintage Dr. Pepper bottling plant are among the many dining options, but "be prepared to spend a bundle."

A 135-pound snapping turtle and a five-ft.-long electric eel are among the aquatic attractions at this "inviting" Fair Park "retreat", a "humid" home to thousands of "fascinating" fish, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates; while this "small" facility makes "excellent use of limited space" and "can just as easily be enjoyed in 30 minutes or three hours", some feel it's "not the best when compared to other cities' aquariums."

Stop and smell the roses at this "flowery retreat", a "beautiful" oasis-cum–"picnic spot" "in the middle of busy" Downtown Dallas that features 66 acres of "well-manicured grounds", sculptures and fountains, plus a historic "mansion to explore"; an extensive gift shop and meeting pavilion, which includes a restaurant and outdoor terrace, offer a different type of respite; P.S. it's "especially nice in the spring", when its 2,800 azaleas are in bloom.

The oldest zoo in Texas, this circa-1888 Fair Park menagerie appeals to visitors of all ages with its 95 acres of animal habitats, which include a "natural-feel" Wilds of Africa section that's viewable on foot or via a monorail loop; a few spoilsports find it "unimpressive" and "dingy", but others say that interesting exhibits – check out the Gorilla Conservation Research Center – and "entertaining" annual events are evidence that it "keeps improving."

"For those with discerning tastes in music", the "state-of-the-art acoustics" in this "outstanding" Downtown concert hall make for a "first-class" evening listening to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (as well as other local organizations); thanks to a "gorgeous" I.M. Pei design, it's also an "awesome architectural experience", so "take a guided tour if you can" and catch a free demonstration of the C.B. Fisk Opus 100 mechanical-action organ.

"See the same view Lee Harvey Oswald had" when he "shot President Kennedy (or did he?)" as you peer out the windows of this "not-to-be-missed" museum in West End that "brings a national tragedy to vivid life"; geared toward "history buffs", its "informative", "tasteful" film clips, "excellent chronology and wonderful narrative" of the 1963 assassination are "sobering" but "gripping" and "help visitors to understand the shock and long-term impact."
