A "reminder of better days in Detroit", this "lovely" Frederick Law Olmsted–designed park located "in the middle of the Detroit River" has been a "haven from the hustle and bustle of the city" since 1887; offering five miles of shoreline drive, the 983-acre isle offers "beautiful gardens", a Great Lakes Museum and space in which to play baseball, tennis or cricket; N.B. a recent renovation has transformed the nature center into a full-fledged Nature Zoo.

A "great place to see Major League Baseball", this "beautiful", "well-designed" Downtown ballpark pitches up "something for everyone", including statues of tigers "lurking atop the stadium", private lounges where "they treat you like a king", a food court that "all love", a walk of fame in the concourse area and a water fountain and light display over the centerfield wall.

A "must-see", this Wayne State facility houses "one of the largest, most important collections of art in the country", with more than 65,000 works representing a "huge variety" of periods; for most, Diego Rivera's "awesome" Detroit Industry frescoes remain the "main attraction", while guided tours, a film series and Friday night live music are bonuses; N.B. a multi-million-dollar renovation was completed in late 2007, showcasing the art to even better effect.

In operation for over 165 years, this "excellent open-air" market – spread over 43 acres Downtown – offers a "delightful collection" of vendors, selling everything from "cheese to antiques", with plenty of "people-watching" thrown in; it's "quite an experience to go early in the morning, when vendors are opening their stalls", but some visitors prefer to "go late for the best values"; N.B. the farmer's market is open on Saturday only, with surrounding restaurants and retail shops also open Monday–Friday.

One of the nation's "most beautiful and ambitious" stadiums, the Lions' "fantastic" home field is "a must for architectural buffs" and sports fans alike, incorporating a restaurant (open only pre-game), offices, entertainment and event venues into a renovated 1920s-era warehouse space Downtown; twice-daily behind-the-scenes tours cover an NFL locker room and a walk onto the field for a player's-eye view.

First opened as a movie palace in 1928, this "beautiful, historic" Downtown theater and concert hall is as "grand as Detroit gets", sporting "lushly decadent", Asian-influenced decor – think "gorgeous gilded elephants" and "golden walls" – that make it "something for the eye to behold"; there's simply "no better example" of old-style cinema house glamour, and it's now home to many "top shows" as well as children's events and weddings.
