"A former army course" at Fort Ord, this "underrated sister of the Bayonet" is a recently renovated option offering "challenging holes" that "require thoughtful attack" but are "a lot of fun to play"; although the "facilities are ex-military" in quality ("what can you expect?"), the "lovely fairways" are "beautifully manicured" and "set amid the pines, with knockout views of Monterey Bay", making the track "a better deal than anything inside 17-Mile Drive."
