Ocean view from some rooms. Friendliness and attitude of staff.
Food prices (high) and quality (low).

The staff was excellent! They made me feel very at home and showed the spirit of aloha.
Bed sheets need fabric softener.

The location to the beach and pool for our younger children was excellent.
The shower was small, no microwave and needed updating, the window didn't open.
Overall I would stay here again. It needs some updating but for the convenience of the beach and the pool for my children I can put up with a small shower, and the hotel needing a few updates. But I almost think it is a safety thing that the window didn't open, next time I would probably ask for another room where the window does open.

Excellent deal for the price.
Room smelled like mold.
The hotel lobby and common areas were quite nice for the price. The rooms were a little run-down. Was an overall good experience.

Beautiful, serene, unpretentious ambiance of Hawaii of a Begone ere.

Close to Lydgate Beach Park- great for walking and ocean viewing. Nice grounds.
AC motion activated, had trouble keping up-but a luxury in Hawaii.
Pleasant hotel, well maintained grounds. Tropical setting. Wanted to use the (spa) hot tub, however we were disappointed it was not working. Observed locals (not hotel guests) using the pools/facilities because of proximity to Lydgate Beach Park. Needs to beef up security: Install room key access for entrance to pools, facilities, etc. or have a guard visible to deter trespassing. read more

Close to the beach.
Too hard to walk to nearby services: no sidewalks!
The Aston Aloha Beach hotel is a shadow of its former self, with signs of wear and deferred maintenance throughout the hotel. A walkway to one wing leaks rain, flooding the entire floor, the baseboards in the dining room show piles of dust from termites, and some stairways have the carpet worn away from the steps. Nonetheless, because of these factors you can find a better deal here than at many other resorts. The hotel requires you to have a rental car. The restaurant does not have enough variety to keep dining interesting for more than a few meals and prices are fairly high. The nearest restaurants are across the bridge to the north in Wailua. This would be an easy walk except that the highway is incredibly dangerous to walk along, with narrow shoulders, no crosswalks, and drivers who are oblivious to pedestrians. The hotel's main attraction is its proximity to the public beach, which offers decent surf and a sheltered wading and snorkeling pool that is perfect for kids. read more

Very cheap.
Smell and quality of the hotel room.
Very nice reception area, and pretty location on the beach, although not in the quietest part of Kauai. However, the hotel room was not great, hot and had an old, damp odour - although was clean. We booked the room to freshen up before a late night flight, we didn't actually stay the night. From that, it was exactly what we expected from the price and served a purpose.

Close to the airport, close to beach and very clean.
The hotel exceeded my expectations. We just needed a room for about 10 hours since our flight was leaving very late at night. We were able to enjoy the beach one last time and see the sunset!
