Astoria A Boscolo Luxury Hotel

I did not feel this hotel was up to 4 star quality. It was clean and good service but as a business traveler I was most disappointed in the internet service. No internet in the rooms - they said there was wireless in the lobby but it never worked. The safe in my room did not work. I was moved to another room and that safe did not work either.

The original room given to me was a disaster. It had no windows and was really a closet. When I companied they offered to upgrade me to a nicer room but only if I pay more per night. I had no choice, I did.

The light of my room and the shower doesn't work. It's terrible.

Location is great. Easy walking distance to the Ufizzi, Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, Accademia, Medici Chapel, the street markets, and many others. Room was comfortable and convenient.

Overall this hotel was fine. The main things that tainted our experience was breakfast not being included (it cost 15 euro) and the staff did a terrible job handling (still being worked as I type this review) an issue of some vanishing clothing. We had a bag with about $120-150 in clothes in it sitting at the foot of our bed when we left in the morning and when we returned the room was made up and the bag of clothes was gone. They said they asked the housekeeping staff about it and checked the laundry but nothing was found and they didn't offer to do anything about it. We went to the hotel thinking that it was a 4 star hotel. It fell far short of our expectation. It was an old hotel in terms of rooms and facilities. Our fridge in the room did not work at all, shower in the bathroom had barely any water pressure and dirty. Our room was tiny and hotel staff was not helpful when we asked questions about neighborhood. This is in comparison to other 4 star hotels we stayed in other parts of Italy. read more

Excellent staff -- hotel very pretty -- very clean.

The hotel has a good location, but is run down and worn out. The carpets were in terrible shape, faded, dirty, and needed replaced. Our room had bug guts, from where they were killed on the walls.

It was tough to initially find, has no parking, but is close to most museums, ships, etc that one would usually visit in Florence.
