Good room facilities and staff.
Location pretty isolated, poor maintenance.
Good hotel for a short stay if one does not wish to roam around town. Pleasant furnishing of the public areas as well as the room. Nice buffet setup for all meals.

Excellent location-used as a basis for day trips-close to airport and city.
Loud music and vibrations from band on Saturday night until at least 2 am.
The staff was very helpful and courteous--the rooms were very clean and comfortable--food at hotel restaurants was excellent. We extended our stay from the original 2 nights to our entire 7 night stay.

The room was clean and nice, but the staff go over and above their duty to assist you. There is a casino with cheap slots. Has an airport shuttle.
The restaurant was too over priced. Breakfast was good, but dinner was not very good.
This hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport, but can be difficult to find. The rooms are clean, not extremely spacious, but not cramped either. The staff are extremely helpful and the lobby area is very attractive. There is a casino attached with card tables and slots. We played the slots for about an hour and enjoyed them very much. We lost about $15, but the slots allowed enough wins to make it fun. At the end of our stay, we discovered a flat tire on our rental car. The concierge called the rental agency and kept the car keys so the rental agency could retrieve the car. This allowed us to take the airport shuttle and kept us from missing our plane. read more

I loved the convenience of a twenty minute ride from the airport to this hotel. The view into the mountains was gorgeous.
No free shuttle from the airport to the hotel. I had to make 3 international calls from the US as they had no 800 number, the PM staff was terrible

Poor Air conditioning.
Convenient location, if you can find it. 10km to the airport with shuttle service. Hotel staff is barely competent. Wireless Internet costs $10/day, Local calls carry a fee, and drinks/stuff in the hotel room cost twice what they would in a US hotel. Also, the air conditioning couldn't cool the room to better than 24C, on full blast. To make matters worse, you must leave a key in a slot at the entrance to turn on any electricity. Want to try to cool the room while you're away or charge batteries? If you only have one key, tough. If you're staying on the 5-6 floors, you need a key to even get onto your room's floor. Tried the cafe' with the buffet. $120 for a meal for 4. Was worth half that. Would not stay here again...our stay in La Fortuna at a bare-bones hotel was more pleasant than this place. read more

The hotel was immaculate, the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful.
There was nothing to dislike!!
The only glitch we had was with the transportation to the hotel that was supposed to be provided by the hotel. This was rectified and within about 25 min. the transport van was at the hotel to pick us up. This hotel, the staff, are wonderful beyond belief. You couldn't want for anything more!!

Hovering waiter in the Japanese restaurant.
Beautiful hotel. Great for heading in or out of San Jose; free 15 minutes shuttle from and to airport, or easy drive from airport - many signs (just don't turn too soon!). However, it is more like 15 km from airport, not 8km like review claims! Lovely outdoor pool and various restaurants on site. Easy parking. Highly recommend this hotel. Definitely one of the finer hotels for the money. read more

Smoking room, unhelpful, hard to find.
Bad experience.
I went to check in and let my husband park, no bell person was available to help with luggage. Made us park and walk all the way around the hotel to provide husbands passport before could check in. Because he was not allowed to wait in front of hotel. Very unhelpful. Gave us smoking room with no choice. No explanation on amenities.
