Location and free coffee.
Furniture in room dated, old. Television had bad reception.

This is a good budget hotel. It is clean, has free breakfast although it's usually just croissants or chocolates and coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is not a fancy hotel, but a good place to stay if on a budget. Great location.

The location was great!
Staff was not friendly and hallways had a strange smell

The hotel is centrally located which makes it easy to get anywhere you'd like to get to in Montreal. The staff however is not very friendly or helpful. I thought I had booked the room for 4 people but mistakenly for 2. I was told I needed to pay an extra 15-30 per person per night. I said ok if you can show me a policy that says you pay "x" amount. They could not produce one and I felt $15-$30 extra per person was too wide of a range and left for interpretation. I would not recommend this hotel because for the final end price you can stay at a 3+ star. Also watch out for the mice in the lobby and the strange odor in the hallways. read more

was close to downtown
close proximity to the ghetto, no parking.

The staff at this hotel was incredibly rude and unhelpful, and even locked us out of our rooms because they wanted to talk to the card holder. Could they not call us instead? The Manager had a very condescending attitude, and wasted 2 hours of our day arguing with us, to the point that we complained to Econolodge's head office.

Location.
The employee at the front desk was rude.

The employee did not greet me in a friendly manner and he was rude. When I asked about the closest parking and metro station, he didn't feel like helping me and was rude.

Location was near downtown.
Could have had more choice in breakfast, had jam and cross ants. Peanut butter.

We just wanted a place to stay overnight as we were there for a wedding, it was not fancy but ok for that.

Convenient location.
We were put in a smoking room when I do not smoke and there was no possibility of changing rooms.

I was gross and everything my friend and I took into the room smelled like smoke when we left.
