Location was not terrible. Beds were OK.
Bad room, noisy, small TV, few electrical outlets and a
very slow internet.

Absolutely nothing, nada.
Everything.
Small dirty rooms, poor service, noisy beyond belief. Rooms full of unmanaged kids who partied all hours. Security was unable to calm them down. Sirens going off all night. Do not recommend this to anyone.

Friendly staff, almost like a boutique hotel.
Tiny bathroom and may not have been best location.
For the price the hotel was perfect. I liked the eclectic decor and the staff exceeded my expectations in friendliness. I felt like I was in Europe.

The staff was very friendly, painless WiFi access, good desk.
Thin walls, drafty door.
This is a typical small San Fran hotel. It's an old building which is charming but it's old. There's a general patina of age on everything. I could see light through the door jamb when the door was closed and it banged a bit when the window was open. The hotel has a travelers theme (world maps and postcards in the old elevators). There were lots of Europeans staying. The room was a good size, clean though aged. The closet was huge. The neighborhood is about a 3/4 miles from the center of shopping (5 blocks south, 1 block west). it borders the Tenderloin which is the bad part of town, but this area is fine. It was a bit pricey, but it's San Fran and I asked for 2 conferences in town, so everything was booked (and expensive). It's perfectly acceptable, has an older trendy crowd, but I've had better experiences in San Fran. read more

Asian interior design touches were beautiful.
Don't go out walk-in' at night unless you're pack in heat.
These guys really try - beautiful hotel in a questionable neighborhood. Everything was really comfortable. For someone traveling from a city where the police actually keep the beggars moving, I was very saddened at how aggressive beggars have become in the area. Not dangerous per se, but definitely a bummer.

The staff was wonderful.
The parking was a block away and the valet service closed at midnight. Should have valet service 24 hours.
The hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff, including the housekeeping, was all nice and represented themselves and the hotel to the highest degree. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you Carlton.

Free wine tasting in the lobby.
No air conditioning.
I loved this place. For the price, the location, room size cleanliness. I would expect to pay much more for this quality but was glad I didn't have too. They even gave me a free limo ride to my conference hotel.
