Small, friendly, had a very nice wine-tasting hour in lobby at no charge.
The location was somewhat removed.

I loved the eclectic atmosphere, and the happy half hour! The staff was awesome.
I have stayed at probably twenty places in SF, and the Hotel Carlton was my favorite. It's not the fanciest, but it's the best. It felt like being in Europe. The staff was totally friendly and it was just the greatest time.

Friendly staff, clean and attractive - very European styling.
Only valet parking.
Only good things to say about Hotel Carlton - staff was extremely friendly and helpful and had great suggestions. Room itself had a very European style to it - personally loved the walk in closet and the bathroom was clean and styled well.

Location.
Valet very slow and they were cowards.
The valet hit my car and they denied the situation even after I showed my rental agreement that did not contain the same yellow scratch. But they had a huge yellow pole in the garage. The facility still was not helpful and blames me. Was very upsetting. Neither would nor recommend!

The staff was responsive.
11pm check in. Hind abed made. Called desk, the removed $30 parking. No hairdryer, remote not working. Was small, one end of a suite, I think.
The hotel itself was ok, an older, refurbished one in a convenient location. However, mine was not a legitimate room. My ex-husband and I have a 60-room inn in Monterey, CA. I know that if we even get down to our small, less desirable rooms, the best policy is to inform the guest first. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to let you know about my experience. I hope that someone follows up. read more

Good location.
Very basic.
Very basic. No ink pens in room. The furniture was something you would buy at Kmart. No ice bucket in room. There was only one ice machine for the whole hotel.
