This hotel is no way a 3.5 star! There were 2 of us and we were first given a tiny room with 1 double bed which they claimed was a standard room. And, they said the bed was a queen. After complaining we were moved to a larger room with a king. Overall the rooms were of a quality fitting a 2 star hotel. The place looks nice from the outside but completely lacking inside.

I can't think of a thing.
Too expensive, fireplace did not work, not a hotel but a motel.
If you are solely impressed with the way the reservation desk looks, you will like the hotel. The room was marginal. Fireplace did not work, one electrical plug was available. Parking was just like a motel.

Location, and the bar patio.
No ventilation in the room - stuffy, no AC or fan.
The buildings are pleasant, and the tapas - bar patio was delightful. It is convenient to the Monterey attractions. However, the rooms are tiny, loud (no entrance hall), and stuffy! Even though they have windows that open, the wooden shutters (for privacy) prevent any air from coming in.

Very nice decor and style and staff.
Not quiet close to the street and bathrooms were not as up to date as the rest of the room.

The staff was very friendly, the rooms were nicely refurbished, and the grounds clean and neat.
The maid came in our room and cleaned it even though we put a sign on the door to not be disturbed.

We ate dinner at Esteban and the food and service was AMAZING!
Rooms had no air conditioning, and the walls were quite thin.
The hotel itself is very nice, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The bed in the room is very comfortable and the room itself has a lot of nice amenities. 2 things that could help are thicker walls and air conditioning. Other than that, it was a great place.
