The Chancellor Hotel on Union Square is a charming 137 hotel located in the heart of San Francisco. Since 1914, it is still a classic boutique hotel serving guest who want to be surrounded by world class shopping, restaurants, and theatres at a good value. When you aren't shopping, dining, just step out of our lobby and ride the Powell Street Cable car past Chinatown, over nob hill, and by Lombard Street to Fisherman's Wharf. Room was completely updated, beds were comfortable and really pleased with the free WiFi. Staff was friendly, helpful and coffee was available in morning.

The hotel charged me an additional $30.00. Not clear what for. I found this disappointing. This is not right.

Hotel was pretty nice. Room was very small. However, the location and service was great. Only problem is they charged me an additional $30.00 dollars when I checked out (not for anything I charged) just for hotel incidentals. Whatever, that is. I was disappointed as it was my understanding that the price we were quoted, was the price we owed the hotel.

Upgraded since last stay many years ago. Very clean, comfortable older hotel in the middle of the action.

My wife's parents spent their honeymoon there. We had spent one night before, but it was showing its age at the time. Not this trip! Quick efficient service. Breakfast was fast, good and cheaper than the more famous Sears restaurant next door (with a line outside it to get in). We really enjoyed ourselves.

Clean, great location, free wifi, good pillows.
Small rooms, inward facing windows, no AC.

The hotel location is great. Right in union square and just down the block from other hotels going for 2x as much per night. The hotel and rooms are clean and the styling of the rooms is nice. Feels pretty modern in the rooms.

It should be noted that the hotel does not have air conditioning which did not matter as the weather was cool. Not sure I would want to be there on a very hot day.
