great location, despite the high volume foot traffic below the rooms were very quiet

The location.
The carpet in the room smelled badly and there was mold present throughout the bathroom.
The location of this hotel is good if you want to be close to San Marco Square. The breakfast was consistent with Italian standards and was overall good. The challenge was that the small room smelled very badly likely due to the carpet in the room and the mold in the bathroom. I wanted to like this hotel and hoped it to be a Venetian gem but that was not the case.

The location, very close to Piazza San Marco, is excellent.
The room quality was poor.
The Comfort Hotel Diana is in an excellent location for viewing the main attractions Venice has to offer. The hotel itself is severely lacking in both comfortable and cleanliness. The linens were very old (but clean). The carpeting was dirty and the furniture was scuffed, old and dirty looking. The bathroom had been quasi-updated but it was obvious this hotel battles with mold constantly. read more

Fantastic location, great air-conditioning, bathroom, etc
I can't think of anything negative. It was fantastic.
If you're looking for a great little hotel in Venice, this place is perfect. It isn't fancy and the rooms aren't big, but it is clean, comfortable, and perfectly located down a quaint, tiny alleyway very closes (but not too close) to St. Mark's. Highly recommended.

Proximity to Piazza San Marco, helpful staff, near boat station, safe neighborhood, good value for the money.

The hotel Diana is located right around the corner of Piazza San Marco and the Ducal Palace, that walking to these major tourist attractions was very easy. The San Marco boat station is also very close, that getting to other places in Venice and neighboring islands wasn't hard either. The staff are helpful and many speak good English, and the ones that don't, try hard to help. In particular, Mr. Paolo was very helpful in suggesting nice restaurants near the hotel and options for getting around town. The front desk is staffed 24x7. The free breakfast in the morning is convenient and relatively good compared to breakfast offerings at similar hotels. The room we got did not have much of a view, but otherwise was nice. The TV though small offered several channels including CNN and BBC. We had a bit of trouble using the shower without spilling the water over, but got used to it. The cleaning staff were very efficient, they managed to keep the room very clean, despite our efforts :-). The room did not provide facial tissues or shampoo, they had liquid soap instead, but this may be an Italian, European thing and not something specific to this hotel. The only major problem we had with this hotel was getting to it past midnight from the Santa Lucia railway station and to the Marco Polo airport at 6 am for our flight. Each time, we had to hire expensive private water taxi, which cost us nearly 80 Euro each time again, I believe this would be true for any hotel in Venice not connected to by roads). Overall, we had a really good five nights of stay at Hotel Comfort Diana and will highly recommend it to others. read more

friendly staff and central location
small rooms, lack of facilities (pool, fitness center, etc.), no view
This is a small hotel at the most central location in Venice close to St. Mark's square on a very narrow street called Specchieri, which we would never have found without a map. It does not overlook a canal, the best view is a front room onto Specchieri. The rooms are small, but clean, and the friendly staff will compensate you for any inconvenience. Try their capuccino at the free continental breakfast! read more

The location was amazing
I wanted a a queen or kng size bed.
This hotel was very nice. It was centrally located and very clean. The breakfast was simply bread and coffee or tea. The staff seemed generally helpful. A couple of the staff members were condescending.
