Comfort Inn Des Moines

Comfort Inn is good for a comfortable, peaceful stay. It's in a location to serve the Des Moines Int'l Airport and the south side of Des Moines. The rooms were spacious. Breakfast was free. The desk help could be better.

Thought I'd save a little money staying next to the airport and leaving car here. Hotel was not at all what I expected. I would only rate this at a 1 star.

Great room. Quiet. Close to the airport. Will definately stay there again.

Avoid this property at all costs! It doesn't deserve two stars or to be part of the Comfort Inn chain. It's noisy - next to a busy highway with single-pane windows (which were also filthy). When I checked in, only smoking rooms were available - which I can accept. However, no effort was made to refresh the rooms and make them tolerable for non-smokers. The room reeked of smoke.

When I got there, the clerk told me that my credit card did not go through. I had to call home, get the bank phone number. Called the bank. They never received a request. She had not run card properly. Went downstairs again and it ran fine. The last day, there was no coffee at 8:20 am. She said she supposed she could make coffee. Same clerk. Please submit to Comfort Inn.

The access and location are hard to find and access. I was not aware that it was a pet hotel with numerous smoking rooms. We were switched to a non-smoking room and found a cigarette lighter in the chair cushions. My companion is allergic to dogs and needed benadryl to sleep there.

Great location to many different sites, stores, restaurants, airport. Not overly big, nice pool even though we didn't use it we went and looked at it. A nice wooded area behind with what sounded like a creek, very peaceful.
