Location.
The bed was not comfortable.
Over all the Comfort Inn Gaslamp is fantastic! Great breakfast, nice people, good service, phenomenal location, and outstanding price! Only two drawbacks, in my experience with this hotel: the bed, and getting to the hotel from the airport. The mattress was a bit elderly, and I felt the springs all night. The other detractor was getting there. The hotel is actually quite close to the San Diego airport. I took SuperShuttle back to the airport when departing, and they only charged me $5 for the trip. I will definitely stay at the Comfort Inn Gaslamp the next time I need to go to San Diego. But I will save some money and arrange for Super Shuttle myself. read more

I liked the style and the updated rooms. I wish I had used the pool.
It was extremely noisy in the hallways and the doors slammed hard.

Cheap and simple.
Had to pay extra $16 for parking in lot across the street.
Besides the extra $16/day for parking, basically got what I expected. Room was a little tight, but clean and comfortable. One thing that's a little weird: there is no sink in the bathroom, only in the kitchenette area.

The parking lot is behind the hotel. You have to walk around the corner.
The hotel staff was not very friendly. The room was small with a small (full size) bed and small square pillows.
