Barcelo Capella Beach Resort - All Inclusive

We could stay again and again.

Beautiful resort with a great staff, the food and cleanliness were disappointing.

They have made some nice upgrades like WiFi, and better food at buffet.

The hotel was good it was about 45 min from Santo Domingo and 25 minutes from the airport. The hotel room was OK we asked for king size bed got 2 full. We loved the beach. It was nice and clean. The pool was good to. The only thing I would recommend is book your stay between the restaurant in the resort and try to avoid eat at the buffet. Me and my partner both hated it. The French restaurant was an extra 20 and they didn't have many choices. read more

I was happy with the hotel but the rooms have mold in them and the senior staff do not seem to care about it. I had to move twice. To get out of the mold zone. The staff did not want me to move at all. My wife has asma and we had to call a doctor to treat her. If my wife did not speak Spanish I feel they would not have moved us. This property is rated at 4 star I think but that is way to high for a place that has mold in the rooms. read more

One time experience, good food/bad service, great beach/not enjoyable, nice rooms/ bad beds.

A great place to stay for the price. The beach is beautiful and peaceful. Vendors on the beach can be a pain. Need to be able to say no initially and quickly if not interested, however each vendor pays to be on that beach and must be licensed.

They move you to the worst room to see if you complain about it. Once you do, they tell you that the hotel is full when its not. Once the move you to building 4, you will enjoy your stay. They also tell you that the hotel resteraunts are full and they are not, smile and complain until they give you a reservation. The beach is beautiful but the vendors are like flies, the best repelant is to buy something cheap and show it to the rest of the vendors. Do not go outside the resort without a reliable Dominican tour guide. I am from Puerto Rico, I know the language and we rented a car. In the capital we were stopped by the police for allegedly going against traffic, untrue. One of the officers actually got inside our car and told us to drive, so we were technically sequestered. I had to give the officer $40 to go away but the experience was terrifying. He could have droped a bag of coccaine and that would have been the end of the vacation. I recomend everyone considering going to the Dominican Respublic to go to Puerto Rico, its a bit more expensive, but its safe and we are very turist friendly. read more
