Location.
Clogged bath tub.

We had only one night in Tampa, and were very happy with where we stayed. We checked in at 11:30 in the morning, and the room was available, so we were able to fully enjoy the amenities.

Hotel is clearly making strides in improving facilities. Very comfortable bed in a clean room.
Hallways were dirty - old carpets that didn't appear to have been vacuumed in days.

The Doubletree Hotel Tampa Westshore Airport is a hotel in transition. It was evident that a lot of renovation is underway, but the hotel still has a lot of progress to make in order to deserve an "excellent" rating. Hotel staff was friendly and efficient at check in. Our room was clean, although clearly had yet to be renovated (old carpet with snags; old bathroom tile and shower). The bed was very comfortable and we both slept well during our one-night stay. For our needs (a place to sleep for one night following a late arrival at the Tampa airport before heading to other weekend vacation plans), it was good. One annoyance - we felt bombarded by requests from the management to rate the hotel excellent. This was stated in a letter left on the bed detailing their current renovations (‘anything other than a 9 or 10 won't count’; contact us if you can't rate us excellent, etc) and again on a sticker placed on our bill. While we appreciated the progress this hotel is making, it's far from a 10 at this point and a phone call to their care-line wouldn't make up for the difference. read more

The hotel is undergoing renovation, this may bring it up to an acceptable level, will have to wait and see.

Location and convenience.
I had a non-smoking room overlooking the smoking area so I couldn't use the deck at all during my stay.

I was pleased with everything about the hotel except the fact that I was unable to use the deck. I had a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor on the 2nd floor. I had a screened in deck which overlooked a beautiful garden type area. The problem was this area was used as a smoking lounge for all conventions in the hotel so as soon as I opened my door I was overwhelmed by the smoke. If several people were below my deck smoking, the smell even came into the room through the closed door. I did not complain to any staff members because I was only there evenings and overnight but if I had been there more and wanted to use the deck I would have complained. This was very poor design. read more

Excellent bedding!! Great breakfast buffet.
Pricy restaurant. There was construction going on.

Superb bedding which made for a great night's sleep. Easy checkout, courteous staff and overall, great for business. The restaurant had a breakfast buffet which was excellent but dining was overpriced and too. There was also construction going on which I was not informed of prior to arrival, as it would have altered my decision on the hotel.

Comfy, clean, great staff that was friendly.
Did not get type of bed I needed for this trip.

I liked this hotel. Great service, good food. I would recommend a pool view rather than highway side for the light sleeper.

Clean room.
Front desk clerk and construction.

The front desk clerk stated that my cc was declined after one swipe. Which I explained is impossible since I rarely use the card. After calling the bank, that stated that a decline wasn't even on computer. The clerk didn't even want to swipe it again. The hotel is under renovation so parts are tore up. The toilet was slow to flush. The wall paper was peeling in the bathroom. There was duct tape around the pipe in the bathroom. But the room itself was clean. Oh yeah and the office chair was broken. No warm cookies at the front desk like The Doubletree is supposed to have. read more

It had a nice outdoor pool and Jacuzzi.
The maids skipped our room. We had to call them around 5 pm to clean the room.

It was a good hotel for business travelers. The breakfast was good but not complimentary and not inexpensive. Also, there was no table in the room or fridge or microwave. The balcony overlooked the parking lot. Not too romantic. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The hall carpet needed replaced and had an 8 inch hole burned in it. The fitness room was nice, as was the pool in the courtyard. I wouldn't stay there again, but it wasn't the worst place I've ever stayed by any means.

The price was excellent
Bathroom had hair and door needed to be replaced.

For the money it was great,
I would call it a 2 stars not a 3 stars.
