The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly.
The rooms are dirty, they smell bad, my white soxs turned brown just walking on the carpet. I could go on.

If you're looking for a place to stay in Portland Maine this isn't it, I would bet the local motel 6 has much nicer rooms that don't smell bad. Oddly every local I spoke to laughed when I told them where I was staying. I was told the hotel keeps changing ownership and never can afford to upgrade/clean up the rooms. However, people have mentioned that if you're willing to risk the creaking elevator ride to the top floor of the Eastland, you'll find a bar/restaurant that has great drinks, good food and an incredible view. read more

Clean room friendly staff person at checkin/out.
Cost of parking.

Quite adequate, older and clean and located resonably close to all enjoyable in Portland for dinner, etc. No updates.

The fitness center smelled, and the treadmill did not work and there was no cleaner for the equipment aftr use.

Parking was very expensive. The fitness center with broken equipment and located on a smoking floor, so one had to walk through secondhand smoke to get to the fitness center---I assume most using the fitness center are adverse to smoking.

Friendly staff.
Certainly not 3.5 stars... more like 2.

Certainly not 3.5 stars... more like 2. It was old and refurbished, the carpet crunched when you walked on it. Great location, but not romantic and historical as advertised.
