The bed was like a brick. It was too far to be considered Union Square.
This hotel was old and the bed was so hard I contemplated sleeping on the floor!

Good location and
good value.
Small rooms.
Dated but clean and value for the money.

Quirky - more interesting than a standard hotel chain.
Some of the staff was friendly, some were not.
This hotel was great for a more interesting experience of San Francisco. The bathroom in my room did not have a sink, but there was a sink in a shuttered closet in the bedroom. The lobby area was lovely.

Complimentary wine reception, the only good thing.
The bathroom was disgusting, which made me question all the cleanliness.
This hotel was horrible. I was hugely disappointed.

It was clean and the decor neutral enough I could tolerate it for 15 days straight.
Too much outside noise. People making a racket until 12:20 am every night and random screams interfered with my ability to go and stay asleep.
It was tolerable. I would not stay there.

Helpful, friendly staff; wine tasting well-executed perk; good attempt at style.
Room was
too cold, dank, dark; fitness center was
too small.
Definitely did not meet my expectations. Lobby fireplace and wine tastings a perk for leisure traveler. Not well suited for business. Location useful for public transportation.

Location was great for people who like to walk.
Noisy, floors were sloping, walls were off kilter.
charming older hotel, with all the expected architectural eccentricities, (sloping floors, minimal bathrooms) front desk was competent, MAsa's restaraunt was pricey, but exceptional.

This is not a boutique hotel. it is a European hotel that has not been updated.
This hotel was fine. The rooms and bathrooms need updating.
