Extended Stay America Orange County - John Wayne Airport

My overall stay was very good, would stay there again.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Its address is variously listed as MacArthur Blvd. and Birch Street but its entrance is on Van Karman. Its sign is low to the ground and not illuminated. Anyone looking for it at dusk or later is out of luck. It is convenient to the John Wayne airport and that's about it. They don't make up your room unless you stay for seven days. It's practically in Irvine, as far away from the coast as you can get and still be technically in Newport Beach. read more

It was okay, the fact that there is no pool really disappointed us. Having a kitchen in the room was definably a plus. The hotel staff was not friendly at all in fact we were ignored more than once. Smelled like smoke all through the hotel. I will not buy a one star again. I will go with two or more. The price was right. You get what you pay for I guess.

It's in a business area, so no nearby restaurants really, and it's far away from the actual Newport Beach. Our non smoking room reeked of smoke. My eyes burned and were red the next day. The bed was hard and the covers thin. We asked for 4 more pillows (we like pillows) and they only allowed us two extra. There is no ice machine, so the only ice is from the ice cube tray in your freezer. The continental breakfast is laughable - some dry muffin looking things and coffee. No one was friendly. It was one of the worst places I've ever stayed. The only redeemable quality was the fridge and microwave - when I was super disappointed by the food offered in the morning, I heated up my leftovers from the night before. read more

The cable shut off for about 10 minutes, naturally after hours so the one attendant I was able to get a hold of was not helpful in any way and made no effort to ameliorate the issue. The bathroom was poorly ventilated and smelled horribly of an ashtray even though the room was non-smoking. Overall it wasn't a very pleasant stay.
