Hotel Guest Reviews of the Gran Melia Golf Resort Puerto Rico

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The grounds, the pool, the accommodations were beautiful! The pool was enormous with lots of areas to lay that were broken up by foilage so you didn't feel crowded. The waves broke quite a distance from the beach, so you could float in a calm bay.
The hotels sits by itself about 10 minutes from the main road. Food seemed expensive to us. ($66 for 2 drinks, 2 bowls of soup and an appetizer! $15 for a hotdog at the pool!) I was very glad we had a car so we could dine elsewhere.

The Gran Melia was definitely on par with a Ritz Carlton. The fountains and the flowers, the Bali beds in the bar, the iced orange and lime water available in the lobby, the chaise lounges IN the pool - all beautiful touches that made you feel pampered. One evening, they even had a gentlemen with a telescope so that we could view Jupiter and Saturn. The resort is enormous and golf carts were zipping around continuously with drivers slowing down to see if you needed a ride anywhere. There was an area with palm trees and hammocks, a volleyball net set up, a childs wading pool - many thoughtful touches. Very elegant! This hotel was convenient for going to the El Yunque National Rain Forest (about 15 minutes) and Fajardo for the bioluminescent bay (about 25 minutes). Very close to Loquillo Beach (about 10 minutes). I was very happy with the Gran Melia. ...read more

The hotel is beautiful. The grounds are very well kept and the pool and swim up bar was great. We went to dinner at two of their restaurants; excellent!
The room was a bit too far from the main lobby, but there is staff available to take you to the lobby area in golf carts, which are always around.

The hotel is beautiful. Food and beverage was good, but pricey, as well as the food in the hotel "store". Everyone was helpful. If you had a problem with something in your room (as we did with the safe), someone was sent up right away and he office would call you to make sure the job was done. This property is a little off the beaten path, but if you just like to relax, you'll like staying there. ...read more

Great room and area incredible.
When you leave the room at night it is extremely dark and you can get lost easily. Also the staff is very nice however certain rules are quite strict that seem unnecessary.

Incredible rooms! Staff very nice! It is quite dark at night and difficult to see and walk in the area that was the only concern.

The staff were very accomodating, we had two rooms due to four of us vacationing together and did not want to be miles apart. We were given adjoining rooms, this was an accomodation that made our vacation as we had planned, being together to share.
There was adequate security, this resort is huge, golf carts were always stopping to offer a ride from one area to another. Actually, I have no complaints of this facility.

The staff were very courtesous, this is the first interaction we had on arrival, the bell staff very courteous and friendly, they loaded our baggage and drove us to our room location. The food was ok to good, we ate at the Tempo restaurant our first evening, it was very enjoyable and our waiter very nice. We had the breakfast buffet the next morning, the food was ok to good but unfortunately our waiter was not friendly, we had to ask twice for a refill on our coffee, but overall the experience was good. I can't put down a bad review for one person in a bad mood. This resort is very expansive, the pool is the nicest pool I have ever seen, it goes forever. The ocean was nice, we were able to walk around the penninsula for a beautiful morning walk most mornings. The neatest thing we saw was a shark in the golf pond. I apparently came up the reef and we were able to watch it for two days swim around. The fin in the pond was very intimidating. Other than location, this resort is wonderful. You definately need a car to see anything or pay the price of a tour. I would definately stay here again. It is relaxing, a great place for R & R. ...read more

The room was outstanding. Large with high ceilings and very well taken care off. The pool is stunning!

The location of the resort is very convenient to the airport and other attractions, such as the rain forest and the ferry to Culebra island. The property is very well maintained and the staff is friendly and attentive. Even though the beach area is somewhat small, it is nonetheless a beautiful spot to swim and relax. We enjoyed our stay very much and would book this resort again. ...read more

The best part of the Gran Melia is its proximity to El Yunque rainforest. There's nothing like hiking all day in the wilderness and then lounging at a restort at night - good mix of adventure and vacation.
The front desk staff takes forever, with anything. It's the Puerto Rican way - slooowww moving.

It's a great resort - if you have kids, you can let them go wild while you enjoy the pool, ocean, golf, basketball, tennis. The layout of the resort is great - open, expansive, and it makes it quiet even though there are tons of families with young kids. It's far removed from any town or city, but it's a quick drive to the Luquillo kiosks and the beach there, or the rainforest. I'd stay there again just because its so extravagant. You really feel like you're taking a vacation. Just make sure you rent a car so you can move around - and don't forget about the resort fees and parking fees! ...read more
