Beautiful carp pond and fresh air lobby.
Dank hallways from partial flooding.
Very friendly and laid-back staff typical of Hilo. Comfortable open-air lobby area overlooking large well-kept car pond. 45-minute walk to downtown. Inconvenient without a car. Multiple small flights of stairs can make moving baggage difficult.

Price and location.
Rooms crowded together.
Hotel was clean. Good bed. Very friendly staff. Kind of small and dreary, but a good value for the price.

Convenient location to Hilo and Volcanoes. Has charm.
Small rooms, thin walls and doors.
In my experience, many hotels by oceans have a different level of cleanliness. With that in mind, plus the low price, I wasn't expecting much more than a place to stay that was close to the airport after a long day of flying from the East Coast mainland. The rooms were small but clean enough and had fridge, AC, Cable. The staff was friendly and helpful and the common areas were quite charming, even featuring handmade traditional Hawaiian quilts as decor in hallways. Planes were not a problem overnight and we were gone during daytime. read more

Clean hotel and great friendly service.
On the old side and could be more modernized, hard to carry heavy luggage up the stairs.
Hotel is old but was clean. Beds were comfortable. Garden was very attractive.

When I asked about getting a king bed, they upgraded us to a better room at no charge.
A little outdated in decor.
I liked this hotel. I was clean and neat and very relaxing. I would stay here again.

Convenient location near airport. Nice & clean. Free parking.
Too small the room is. Can't borrow a hair dryer in the morning.
It's ok for the price I paid for 2 star hotel. But I had a much better experience when stayed at a different 2 star hotel near by with only a few more dollars per night.

The koi pond was great.
No hair dryer or iron, stains all over rug.
