Clean, comfortable bed and nice view of the city.
Small and there was work being done on the floor outside my room.

Clean and comfortable, although a bit small.

Good beds.
Very noisy; staff at reception not very friendly.

The second night of my stay, there were noisy people going up and down the hall half the night, continually slamming doors, talking loudly. The next night, there was loud music from a function directly beneath my room. When I phoned to complain, I was told basically nothing could be done about it until it was over.

This hotel is not in the City Centre and should be removed from the City Centre selections for Edinburgh.

The walk to the city centre was 40-45 mins long at a good pace or a one way taxi trip was $16.00 CAD approximately. Nothing at all wrong with the hotel itself and the residential area very pleasant but the view from the hotel room was almost country side, you walked 10 minutes just to see the signs pointing to the city centre. It was not at all convenient and did not meet my location expectations at all. read more

Extremely helpful and friendly hotel staff.
A
little too far to walk to the city centre. Though, only a short, cheap cab ride.

The hotel is clean and has very friendly staff. The bar is open 24 hours if you fancy a drink late at night.
The room was spacious and relatively luxurious.

Easy bus access to historic parts of the city, inexpensive dining options a short walk away.
Hotel restaurants was expensive for the food served, wireless internet was very expensive.

This is a newer hotel located in a quiet residential neighborhood. Our room had a nice view of the castle. The room was comfortable and quite spacious for a UK hotel. All areas were clean and in good repair. The staff was courteous and helpful. The distance is too far to walk to central Edinburgh but for only one pound it was very simple to catch a bus into the city directly in front of the hotel. A taxi from the train station cost about 8 pounds, and from the airport about 15 pounds. The small shopping center across the street provides opportunities for inexpensive snacks or meals. read more

Had some great views from hotel room.
Always had trouble getting staff at front desk. They were either not there or in the office chatting or doing something else rather than helping guest.

Clean and updated rooms and bathrooms.
Breakfast not included.

10-15 min. bus ride from Princess Street (center of town). Excellent accommodation for the price. The rooms were clean and updated.

Clean hotel and the staff was friendly and helpful.
This was a bit further away from the center of town than I expected.

The Holiday Inn Edinburgh is a newer hotel. It is clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. It was quite a bit further from the center of Edinburgh than I would have expected. We had to take a bus to and from the center of town. I would not have considered this city center as we could not have walked to town. It was fairly easy to catch a bus to and from town though and it was not expensive. read more

Friendly staff.
Location.

This hotel was not at all well located for those visiting Edinburgh. It's a 20 minute plus bus ride to get to the city center.

Friendliness and helpfulness of hotel staff.

Wonderful staff. Easy to find. Easy to leave rental car at hotel and use bus service to central Edinburgh.
