Way too expensive for the location and the type of hotel.

This is a hotel of last resort for visitors to the Monterey area. It is approximately seven miles from Monterey. While fairly close to the ocean, the view of the ocean is not particularly good from the hotel. In fact, the hotel is right next to Highway 101, and there's a lot of traffic noise throughout the night. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone other than business travelers to Seaside, California. read more

Simple modern room decor, good quality bath products, good breakfast.
Swimming pool was not clear. Not enough seating in breakfast room. Traffic noise from freeway.

Excellent value for money. Great for small groups traveling together. Staff was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Nice modern room decor with clean lines and good quality bath products. Breakfast was very good but not enough seating in room to accommodate everyone. Rooms are a bit noisy with traffic from nearby freeway. Sound insulation in doors would help.

Access to the freeway and proximity to Monterey attractions was great. Hotel was clean and comfortable.
As always, some guests are loud. Possibly place better weather stripping around doors to combat outside noise.

Overall our stay was good. The access to the freeway and Monterey attractions was the main reason we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. The continental breakfast was fantastic. This will be our hotel destination every time that we stay in the Monterey Peninsula.
