Quiet, convenient, shuttle drivers went out of their way to be helpful.
While the majority of the staff was exceptionally courteous, we did encounter an occasional rude and dismissive desk clerk.
I was traveling to a concert with two teen daughters, the hotel was just across the street from the concert venue, which was exceptionally convenient, the shuttle van driver was very friendly and amazingly helpful, informing us of places to eat and stay and running us across the street in the van on the night of the performance because it was raining.

Can't think of a thing!
I felt very comfortable and relaxed at this hotel. The staff people were great. The pool area is really nice. The food in the restaurant is delicious and they have a great children's menu and welcome children.

We had a huge room for a great price!
The pool temperature was a bit too cool and too much chlorine in the water.
The hotel is in a good location, walk able to most parts of downtown Portland. We were pleasantly surprised to have a room that was probably a suite. Though we didn't face the water, the size of the room made up for the uninteresting view. This is not what I remember any Holiday Inn to be like! The Holiday Inn By the Bay is more like a Hilton!

I liked the view from our room and the closeness to everything.
There was a sock in the room left from the last person.
It is a holiday. It provides the services needed and the location with out going overboard. I think it might be good if you have business in the area. We traveled up by train and was able to walk about the city and waterfront easily and also get a shuttle to and from the train station.

The view of the bay from our room was spectacular and the service we received from the hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful.
The view from our room was spectacular. It was centrally located in the heart of the city. The rooms were a little small compared to other hotels but they were tastefully decorated. We stayed one night and the next day they drove us to the train station and let us park our vehicle in their parking garage even though we were checking out. My family and I loved the free juice bar and coffee in the lobby. read more

Loved the restaurant, service was great and the people were very friendly.
Our room was not cleaned everyday, we were kicked out of the lounge because we walked in with a cup of coffee and told we had to purchase in the lounge.
Our room was not cleaned everyday. The person working in the lounge was very rude.
